Jason .......... you could try turning a hardwood dowel to slightly smaller then the taper and then epoxy grit to the dowel with a lot of grit pushed into the epoxy. Let it fully cure for a couple of days and then ream out some practice cork or wood to take off any loose grit. This should give you a good reamed fit. I know some say that they have had problems of grit coming off and scratching

I think it's about 6 hrs ......... easy drive ..... all highway .......... rooms are cheap (especially if you share a room) ......... you see more demos, more supplies, meet more rod builders, learn more techniques than you will in any 5 years of building ........ besides that it's good fun ......... oh and did I mention the deals you won't find elsewhere ........... Buy yourself some grit and take some old rods and and epoxy and make some reamers. Its quick and easy and dirt cheap and 1 small bag of grit will last forever. Just put the epoxy on thick and pour on the grit. I push the grit in a little and let dry. Once it is dry ream some wood like pine once of twice or some old cork to make sure there are no loose pieces of grit ............

Definitely not .......... if you are using preformed fore and rear grips you don't use the clamps. Simply epoxy on the rear grip and let dry then install the reelseat and arbors against the rear grip ..... epoxy and let dry and then the foregrip .......... there is no need to compress them all together ......... the clamps are used when you build with rings and even then you don't compress the r

Some of the professional animal catchers on TV shows that get rid of gators use fishing rods with baited trebles to catch them and get them either to shore or in the shallows. An 8 ft would be a good idea because it allows more give when a big one wants to leave in a hurry. I would think the rod would be a moderate action with a lot of backbone and a reel with a great lever drag ..........

I bought a used Pac Bay wrapper that was used and had quite a few epoxy and finish drops on it ........ I used an alcohol torch and a soft (plastic I think) scraper. A couple second blast of the torch and each one popped off very easily ....... cleaned up very nice
