I have been experimenting with the colored texalium for rod handles. When I cut the tubing I get some chipping on the edges and I wonder if anyone knows how to get a clean cut without the color chippng off. I think the color(red, blue, or green) is a layer over the silver color because the silver shows at the edges when bits of color flake off. I am using a small chop saw that is supposed to be for cutting blanks. It works great on blanks. I have wrapped masking around the spot that I wanted to cut and it still chips. Any suggestions are welcome. Will Dornan Jackson Hole, WY Re: Cutting Texalium Handles

Will, I use a wet tile saw with a smooth diamond blade, it dosent chip the ends and the water helps with the fiberglass dust that seems to irratate my hands. I use the texalium with a aero spinning seat so the end under the reel seat is ok, but I have had the butt end flake after using a few times. To correct this I put a small decorative thread wrap on the end and finish it, havent had any concerns after that. Hello, I quit useing the texalium handles for that same reason, I even talked to todd at mudhole about this problem, and the ones pre cut from lamiglas also were chiped on the edges. I went back to the carbon fiber handles. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
