I have built several 6' rods with pistol grip that guys are using for jerkbait rods mostly at Lake Erie. That's all they will consider using. Has to be rough on the wrist as they will catch 75 to 100 smallmouith a day per boat.

Give Scott at Fishsticks a call he has around 300 painted reel seats. There really nice, automotive paints and a clear coat that a big cat cant scratch,\. He has painted Fuji's in ESCM'S, DNPSM'S,DPSM'S and Castaway 1 piece seats. He has a terrific display of colors from basics to color shifts to scale patterns. You really have to see these. Im sure he can order any color you want if its in a qua

Scott - I'm sending some Bass guys by on Saturday. Hard telling what they will pick out, there's still some really good blanks in the bunch. They will have plenty to look at from ATC's to CTS's. Have fun.

I wouldnt chance a cardboard tube if I thought much of the rod I was sending. Maybe if your sending a warranty rod back you could be ok, after all its broken already. I would advise getting a pvc drainage pipe from your local home builders supply. I get mine from Lowes and the cost is only around 8 bucks for a 10' section. Also mark in several locations not conveyorable. Could help, couldnt hurt.

Gary - I have built quite a few of these blanks lately, IMHO it's the best crankbait blank on the market. I have built two different guide set ups, one with fuji alconites and the others with Amtak titanium ring locks. Both are sweet but the titanium's are the way to go, shoot me an email and ill give you the guide numbers and spacing if you want. Im building 2 BS756S blanks right now that I exte

JIM, very well spoken and to the point, I hope everyone visiting this forum will read this and take it to heart. I also have a concern with some of the manufacturers letting so many builders buy directly from them at different levels and omitting the rod building supply businesses from those sales. It leaves them with only supplying small components and materials that the manufacturers don't car

Tom - did Mr Holt have any info on how they will handle the warranty on there blanks, they obviously wont have blanks to replace them with. I don't see how they could offer anything after Dec. 31st. Hopefully that will be in news section of the next Rodmaker magizine.

I hate to Loomis go as I have no trouble selling there blanks I build on. They will be missed by many as most anglers are not aware of whats going on with there decision to stop selling blanks to custom builders. I posted a concern of mine 4 years ago regarding Loomis not wanting to be in the blank business that brought some posts defending them against that. Not profitable in the blank business

I have been using AmTak,s since they went to ring locks with very good success. I just had a customer that does real good tournament fishing, place a order for 14 rods all using American Tackle Titanium Ring Locks. This was his request after he purchased a Flippin stick I built with these guides. He was impressed, and I think they help make the sale, simply on the fact that Darrin stated above.

Bobby - I just purchased several of these for a customer, I can tell you now that the Shimano reels will not work without cutting the reel foot pocket out on the rear piece. The newer Shimano reels have thicker material therefore they don't go deep enough into the seat. The other reels I tried fit OK, just crank the nut down tight, they went deeper into the pocket. I will have to modify these as

By far the best drop shot blank I have built on. Go with Steve and Kerry on this one. I have sold many of these and used them myself, Although you dont need to set a hook when dropshotting, simply start reeling and pull the rod upward, as this method is usually fished with an exposed hook. I very rarely loose a fish on this rod, its truly my favorite type of catching bass as deep as 60 feet. Have

The hardest thing about Loomis and this decision is that the following they have is very large, I find it hard to convert those die hard Loomis fans into trying another manufacturer, soon they will be forced into it and will be surprised to find there are blanks out there that will blow there mind in quality and price. Its time to educate these followers about the other labels, if I could build c

Chuck please let me know how it goes with this build, as I wont be able to build these untill next month. I have to go to Fishsticks next week and pick up some components. Good thing is I still have time before the fish start running. Good luck and have fun building, thats whats its all about.

I think Fishsticks only had two of these 11 footers at the show as I got two before the show started. ATC only had 1 model that was 11' 2pc 20-40 line, 6-10 lure ,Med Action, 8.0 tip, 0.95 butt, 12.1 oz. The four Fishsticks had had no labels on them and the two at the show were sold for 60.00 ea. I know these are stout blanks and will through some weight. Just wont know the sweet spot untill b

I could only wish that Bill Stevens had gotten this book and filled the remaining pages with his rod building wisdom! Then of coarse sent it back , because there were no info in ther that he already didnt know or forgot! Actually Scott Parsons found the notebook on friday after unpacking some of the show stuff and gave me a call, what a relief. Thanks everyone for looking at the post.

Chuck I do live in NC , Stoneville to be exact. About 30 min north of High Point. I understand about your length now. I think if you do a search you will find some good info from Kirkman about extending a blank, I think aluminum tubing was the best if I remember correctly. But the article went into detail just wish I could remember where I found it, maybe someone can help with the info. That was

Steve hit it on the head Fishsticks has what you need and priced where you need it, the ATC closeouts are what your looking for. Although it may be the weekend before Scott can get unloaded and re=inventored.

Chuck ,I also picked up 2 of those blanks from Fishsticks I plan on building this spring. I know there very good quality blanks although I havent thrown one yet. From the feel of it probably it looks like 8 & bait will be ok ,just hard to tell right now. I dont think I would extend it to 12 ft if your thinking you may get more distance , I dont think that will help you. But maybe thats just

I believe I layed my notebook down at someones booth and walked off and forgot it. It had a green cover and probably nothing that would ID it as mine , It has the binder located on top instead of on the side. Just hoping someone picked it up and is waitng for a lost request. Good thing I dont own a laptop! Just some info that I need and will miss dearly. Thanks Guys

Scott I feel your pain, I wish everyone could make this event, not just for the amazing deals but two days of this show with the seminars and just the get togethers with other rodbuilders keeps you up to date on everything going on in the buisiness to date. The rodbuilders share everything, seems there are no secrets among them which makes you feel comfortable and proud to be among them. Missing

James I also havent seen or used the Minima guides but can only give praise for the Titanium ring locks, had some ring issues popping out on the first designs but after the ring locks were introduced not one concern even on the heavy flippin stcks. IMHO cant beat the value on these guides.

K & J Tackle is Daves tournament tackle , there has been a name change several years ago but locals know it by both. Stop by Sammy Mickles booth at the show (Mickles Custom Rods) and he can give you directions to his place. Sammy does a lot of buisness with Dave , and it is a shop worth stopping at , very good inventory and specialty items not found at Bass Pro Shops. I'll try to post some

I'll agree with Bill on that choice the Rainshadow RX8+S823 would be the prefered choice, second would be the RX8 XSB822.5, and third the RX7 ISB822.5. But seriously the RX8+ S823 will make you slap your granny. Give Scott or Karen a call at Fishsticks, fine people. These blanks have the tip needed and pleanty backbone to pull fish from any structure your throwing around.

A blank no one has mentioned imho SS706 from Seeker is the most impressive blank Ive built for crankbait use. Only serious tournament and profesional anglers will truly appriciate this blank. I put in the hands of many anglers this weekend at a expo and made many anglers pants tight. I know these blanks are getting fished alot, just not many people talking about them. Sorta like the baits that re
