Anybody willing to give me a little history lesson? I recently purchased a bunch of these seats and was hoping to get an idea as to their vintage and reliability. They certainly seem like they will do the job. Fuji Plate Seat Models FS-10, 8, 6 5

Not to mention the custom designed, hand shaped, lightweight, and nearly indestructible rifle stock I plan for my favorite squirrel rifle or the detachable shoulder stock for my favorite pistol. I lose sleep over this stuff.

Went to my local "pro shop" today to look at rods and get some thread color ideas......They are now selling the Okuma line of "kayak" rods and quite a number of split grip and no fore grip designs from a variety of tackle manufacturers and I like to see where they are taking the "new" ideas.

The foam expansion process released heat and CO2, it also generates pressure so I don't know if the plugs like that will work or not but it probably will. As far as pouring in a bucket....I plan to do the same thing but using a plastic tote sprayed on the inside with release agent for cleaning....My rig is a little similar to yours but a six pac. Given a mix time of 25 sec or so with a compar

Working on a multi-core pouring station right now as a matter of fact. Might have to give up on the 24" cores and just try 18's......I am making the caps extra thick to hold the core properly centered while the foam expands. I am also working on a way to use a compressor to blow the cores free vs hammering them out if they get stuck.....Used to build some MAJOR potato guns back in the da

Well so much for my plans of pouring 24" cores............Unless my trip to Tap Plastics comes up with a mold material. I do happen to have a bunch of PVC tubes just laying around though.....To show you just how crazy I am I was thinking about using CLEAR tubing to make the molds so I can see what was going on inside during the process....you would also be able to SEE if you got a complete

like Mike says. With as cheaply as the molds can be made...just make up a bunch.....mix up a batch and start pouring.....If you have kids...get them to help and treat it like a home science project. Once the foam is cured it is pretty much lasts forever. I am thinking about pouring 24" cores myself with ID's of 1/4" and 1/2".

I am working on the very same process but from a slightly different angle of approach as far as the pistol grips go.

That is the wall I have run into with the coloring question Steve....What type of coloring agent/pigment will work without impeding the chemical reaction. I figure to go right to the source and call/email the manufacturers after the holidays for their take on the subject as the thought of colored cores intrigues me for some strange reason that cannot be explained by science or controlled by my p

You can get an air compressor that will work perfectly fine for less then $50. Or get a portable shop tank and a flow regulator and just fill it at your local gas station.

Chris.....I spent many happy hours in the surf along Mad River Beach and Gold Bluffs Beach.....You ARE the Nor Cal dude right? I do not subscribe to the magazine but from what I am gathering here on the board you could make a mold for your personal grips with any texture or surface you like or in any shape for that matter.

Ok......gleaning through the tidbits of wisdom and experience mentioned herein I gather that the urethane cores REQUIRE some sort of top coat for protection and crush resistance and are not suitable used in a raw form. However....I must ask again.....CAN THE URETHANE MATERIAL BE DYED.......It would take a builder a bit more savvy than me but the thought of a colored base urethane has visions of

Trim rings in 1/8", 1/4", and even 1/2" would be interesting to me for sure....especially if the colors are there. Hmmmmmmmmmm....Glow in the dark eva......................there's an idea......Given the right substrate and pigment............. I am also willing to bet you could come up with some two-toned eva if you applied yourself.

I like the old school fiberglass blanks as well.....finding a hidden stash of Lamis being used a flag poles in a garden of all places saved me. I have no source at all for the Fenwick blanks, the Lamis are all gone....and I am looking for old Daiwa Sealine-X (blue blanks) myself for rebuilds. I will keep an eye out at swap meets, flea markets, and garage sales for you and I suggest you travel

I hate to sound like some sort of freak here but anything in a bright, almost sickening florescent color to use in rods for night fishing as they show even in low light ( yellow, orange, green, red). Blues and Purples (for Putter of course...ummm), grays, greens, and browns. I would also like a greater selection of camo patterns. You would be my HERO is you came up with a camo eva surf gri

I have run into similar issues in looking for blanks to build for the coastal surfperch here in California. I was considering trying a 9' 2-piece blank with a M-F action and making a 3' spigot ferrule handle extension but that would likely just be asking for trouble.

I am with Billy on this....I build to fish and not to look pretty....Of course in my case it is because I am a complete goof when it comes to thread art, but the end result is the same. My personal builds are real Frankensteins for the most part, testing new ideas, paints, threads, color combos, cord wraps.... I learned from a locally famous builder who kinda took me under his wing a bit and
