Air compressor hook up to flock gun?

I am planning to buy the Donjer air assist gun to use to flock quantities of grips (my wrists can only take so much mini flocker flocking). I am not familiar with air compressors or air tools other than a simple 12 volt tire air compressor I have. The outlet hose for that is the tire valve style. Do any of you who have the Donjer item or are familar with air tools know what type of outlet hose/connection is used? I only need 10-15 psi for the air assist gun so the cheap air compressor seems like it should work just fine. I don't want to buy a more expensive air compressor unless I have to - but I don't know if air tools take a special connector. Re: Air compressor hook up to flock gun?

Granted 10 - 15 lb isn't much but make sure what ever you purchase it can maintain that psi for an extended time. Regards......Doug@ TCRds Re: Air compressor hook up to flock gun?

The Donjer Spray Cannister should be fitted with a 1/4 inch spring loaded quick disconnect air ferruled connection. Put the male end on the cannister and the female connection on the hose. This quick connect will save you a lot of pain and trouble. When you are filling the cannister the hose needs to be disconnected. Do not connect the air hose to the cannister until seconds before you are ready to apply flock. When you connect the air hose be sure that the black rubber cover over the exit hole of the cannister is removed - the control valves on the gun leak slightly and the can can be pressured - which you do not want to happen. I spray at approximately 10 psi and it does not take a lot of air - just be sure it is oil free and that the moisture has been drained from the tank before you start.
I doubt that the tire inflation compressor will have the cfm needed. You can pressure up a spare tire and then use the tire air pressure controlled through a regulator and it will work fine. You will need only about three to four minutes of air to flock one grip. The options are endless - test your system and see how it behaves before you start using the fiber. Edited 1 time(s). Like Bill said, It's not just the pressure, you have to be able to pump enough volume of air at that pressure. I don't THINK that those little compressors would have enough volume. I may very well be completely wrong but I would check it out and make sure. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! You can get an air compressor that will work perfectly fine for less then $50. Or get a portable shop tank and a flow regulator and just fill it at your local gas station. Derek L. McMaster Rohnert Park, CA Born to Fish, FORCED to Work Re: Air compressor hook up to flock gun?

A very very nice system can be put together by going to you local welding supply store and getting a small filled (650 psi)Carbon Dioxide pressure bottle for under $ 60. Look at the regulators at that store for over $ 300 to check out the sizes at will match up to the left hand threads on the bottle and head off to Harbor Freight and buy a regulator that LOOKS and works the same for $ 29.95. You are now in the major flocking mode in style for under a $ 100. This propellant will always be water and oil free and is easy to rig. The original charge will do a lot of grips numbering in the hundreds and it can be refilled for under $ 20.00 Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
