Mo While what everyone is saying is true, to answer your question on smoothness on the guides I have read a test performed on Fuji, Pac Bay and American Tackle by Express Testing of Troy Michigan. They are an independent lab and the results are quite amazing. It compared Fuji and Pac Bay to the American Tackle. You will clearly see that American Tackle clearly won the test hands down !! T

Keep in mind also what size mandrels you will be using too. Mine are 18 inches and by the time you put on a chuck and ball bearing tail stock you will need enough bed to handle that. Also you can use the self sealing bottle cap syringe inserts that are available. These fit into the top of the bottle and are self sealing. After you draw out the epoxy or hardener you simply place the cap back on the bottle to seal it. They are very inexpensive and since you don't put the syringe down into the bottle it makes using them a no mess operation. Tom tomscustomrods.com

On the microwave system , I just built a 7 ft. rod and used their guide spacing suggestion on the Mud Hole website. I taped the guides on for a tryout and it worked beautifully. Not all blanks are the same so I would suggest. Trying it before you epoxy them on. Tom

I already have them in my cart at Mudhole. Also I have ordered both Army and Semper Fi decals to put on them. On the marine rod I thought the traditional red, gold and black wraps would work. Customer brought me a Ugly Stick SP1166-1MH spinning rod with double foot guides for repair. The #25 guides is broken and I am not having too much success locating an exact match. It is black with a thin chrome ring. The closest I have seen is the Pac Bay minima 3 but the frame is slightly different. If anyone can point me in the right direction on this it would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Guys if you look at the Prowrap color chart online or in their catalog under their colors is a small code which is a close match to the gudebrod thread. I just checked the Prowrap Taxi Cab and under it was the code G209 which I believe means Gudebrod 209 and it is their version of the Golden Rod. I have used these codes to match some repair work and the colors look the same to me. Tom Wewrka

Dale It may help as well, if you drill out the butt cap on a drill press using a Forstner type drill bit. That bit has a perfectly flat bottom, not a taper on the bit thus eliminating a lot of extra cleanout in the bottom. I set my stop on the drill press so the bit stops at the composite cork. Like the others i too have the American Tackle power wrapper. What is interesting though, I find myself using it as a hand wrapper, by dropping the drive belt off, to make a lot of wraps as it is easier to back up if needed. Last year I built my Granddaughter a Baltimore Ravens themed rod . I found that fingernail decals that they use in these nail shops worked great. Not sure how big you want it but for her rod I put one on each side. If you google it, on line you should find what you are looking for. Hope this helps. Tom

Chad that is some awesome information. I see on the first cut of 6 inches the numbers only went down 1 point. If I only cut off 3 inches I would probably think it should be pretty close.
