I do the same as Mark but wanted to add that in addition to rods at cost I give them my Custom made hats, with Pro Staff on the back, to wear at tournaments. Also I pay for their tournament shirts to be embroided with my Logo on it as well as TCR decals for thier truck windows and on their boats. They truly bring in the majority of my sales.

I have the American Tackle power wrapper and have been very pleased with it. Just recently I upgaded the chuck and I am glad I waited to do so. I put an ALPS Chuck on the AT as it fit right on with minor rework. It is a beautiful piece of equipment and has a couple of features I like.
The Alps I believe, is a stronger and better made chuck than the one offered from PB/AT. It also

783. Re: Storm Havoc
Here's one for you. As the storm passed through Maryland on its west bound track it got to the Mountains of Western !Maryland . There the rains turned to snow and dumped 22 inches of snow in Hagerstown and then knocked out the power.
Thoughts and prayers to our neighbors out west.

Steve The AT out performed the comparable PAC Bay of same grade in all categories. Smoothness, hardness and frame strength. The minima is a steel ring whereas the test was on ceramic rings though.

While what everyone is saying is true, to answer your question on smoothness on the guides I have read a test performed on Fuji, Pac Bay and American Tackle by Express Testing of Troy Michigan. They are an independent lab and the results are quite amazing. It compared Fuji and Pac Bay to the American Tackle. You will clearly see that American Tackle clearly won the test hands down !! T

Keep in mind also what size mandrels you will be using too. Mine are 18 inches and by the time you put on a chuck and ball bearing tail stock you will need enough bed to handle that. Mud Hole offers some very nice 14 inch ones that I believe we're patterned after a design of Tom Kirkman which would work on the smaller lathe.
If your budget allows, Woodcraft is offering the Nova 1624-44 o

I was curious as to the travel time distance between High Point and Winston Salem? We found a really great restaurant there and if the drive wasn't to far i was going to go back this year.

Also you can use the self sealing bottle cap syringe inserts that are available. These fit into the top of the bottle and are self sealing. After you draw out the epoxy or hardener you simply place the cap back on the bottle to seal it. They are very inexpensive and since you don't put the syringe down into the bottle it makes using them a no mess operation.

On the microwave system , I just built a 7 ft. rod and used their guide spacing suggestion on the Mud Hole website. I taped the guides on for a tryout and it worked beautifully. Not all blanks are the same so I would suggest. Trying it before you epoxy them on.

I already have them in my cart at Mudhole. Also I have ordered both Army and Semper Fi decals to put on them. On the marine rod I thought the traditional red, gold and black wraps would work. On the army I am probably just going to use green and tan.
I am hoping these will be a hit at the upcoming fishing shows. Thanks Mudhole for the great idea.
Any date on wen we will see the rod blanks

Customer brought me a Ugly Stick SP1166-1MH spinning rod with double foot guides for repair. The #25 guides is broken and I am not having too much success locating an exact match. It is black with a thin chrome ring. The closest I have seen is the Pac Bay minima 3 but the frame is slightly different. If anyone can point me in the right direction on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Guys if you look at the Prowrap color chart online or in their catalog under their colors is a small code which is a close match to the gudebrod thread. I just checked the Prowrap Taxi Cab and under it was the code G209 which I believe means Gudebrod 209 and it is their version of the Golden Rod. I have used these codes to match some repair work and the colors look the same to me.

It may help as well, if you drill out the butt cap on a drill press using a Forstner type drill bit. That bit has a perfectly flat bottom, not a taper on the bit thus eliminating a lot of extra cleanout in the bottom. I set my stop on the drill press so the bit stops at the composite cork.
Another advantage is since you are drilling in a cap with a hole already in it the forstner st

I just ordered some to try I like the idea of only one part on rod repairs which I have done a lot of lately. Should really save on excess epoxy.

I believe he is asking about Threadmaster 1. Which is a one part epoxy and uses water for clean up.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has used it as well.

Like the others i too have the American Tackle power wrapper. What is interesting though, I find myself using it as a hand wrapper, by dropping the drive belt off, to make a lot of wraps as it is easier to back up if needed. Once the rod is set up I find the rollers make hand wrapping a breeze.
But it sure comes in handy on under wraps.

Last year I built my Granddaughter a Baltimore Ravens themed rod . I found that fingernail decals that they use in these nail shops worked great. Not sure how big you want it but for her rod I put one on each side.
If you google it, on line you should find what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

I am going to call and see if cutting the blank voids the warranty. That is a good suggestion and one that might make a difference in what we do.
Thanks

Chad that is some awesome information. I see on the first cut of 6 inches the numbers only went down 1 point. If I only cut off 3 inches I would probably think it should be pretty close.
My goal is to try and talk him into the 7ft. rod which is sweet to start with, then cut only the three inches if he won't budge.
