Thanks for the input guys. I too have built the IS561L for all seven of my grandchildren. This may sound like my customer is jumping the gun but the Little girl is eight months old !!! Actually I am making him two rods. One for when she is able to handle one (probably 4-5) and another very custom one on a white blank with purple EVA grips, 4in alum. spacer and a project X reel seat in purpl

Been asked to make a 5 foot 1 or 2 piece rod for a little girl. It will have a Zebco type reel and is going to be in pink. Thinking that fiberglass would be most forgiving but I can't seem to find any. And not sure how well paint would hold up on glass. Any suggestions, or if anyone has done this I would appreciate your input. I have done quite a few on the CRB blanks but they are 5'6"

You can also go to any sewing or craft store (like Jo-Anns's) and pick up a seam ripper. They have all kinds of them with pointed ends for moving threads and round shafts that work well for burnishing. Tom

People today spend enourmous amouts of money for wheels on old Suburbans why not $2000.00 for the best fishing rod in the world? It could be a great deal if it would come with a lifetime warranty all the while offering anglers the most technological advanced rod blank with all the features they have ever wanted in a fishing rod. My new CRB Rod Dryer came today and I am impressed. The steel frame is substantial and finished nicely. It has very secure rubber feet so I don't see it moving anywhere. The motor is very quiet and the cord and on/off switch is seriously heavy duty! The chuck is similar to the one I have now which works well. It is a great value and I look forward to many years of use. Thanks to the folks at

Bill and Randy My heart goes out to you guys as well. I was with her 24/7 for over a year and by the grace of God she passed peacefully in my arms. I will do anything I can to help prevent any other woman from going through this terrible disease. Breast cancer rods and breast cancer pens have been keeping me pretty busy. Thanks to for all the great suggestions too as I watch this form every

Sandra this is a topic dear to my heart as I just recently lost my wife to breast cancer. In addition to the pink cheveron butt wrap I have another suggestion that you could use in addition to that. I just build two rods in this theme. Also in the guide wraps using bubble gum thread, I inlaid three single wraps of white in the middle of the wrap. It looked great. On the butt wrap using Rand

From what I looked up at Angler's Resource the 40L is 59.7 mm in height and the 40 is 79mm. It is from a fuji height comparison chart. From your other post I would think you want to be sure of the right height on that big reel. Below is the chart. Tom

Another very simple but effective method that I have used is a regular one inch or larger rubber band pulled through a steel bead (used on buzzbaits) . This can be placed where the guide is positioned and cinched up on the guide to keep it in place. Advantages are that it can be used over and over and if it breaks you can pull another rubber band in place. I use D thread to pull it through. I n

And more than likely two or three coats. Do a test wrap first on an old blank or black wooden dowel, one test wrap with no CP, next to it another with one coat of CP then, two coats of CP, and then

Ken you have a valid point but not on a BLIND test, that the lab has no idea of which product they are testing. I have first hand experience of tests being paid for by manufactures although not rod building. For over forty years I sold Heavy Equipment in the condtruction industry. It was fashionable some years back to have a dig off to see who had the fastest and most powerful Loader/Backhoe
