Contrary to the posts above, A belt sander can be very effective in sharpening tool with some practice. I owned a sharpening business for a number of years and 1" vertical belt sander can be a very versatile tool. I have shapened tools, knives, lathe tools, circular saw blades and many other objects. The benefit of a belt sander is the ability to put very little pressure on the tool, due

I was fortunate enough to test the latest thread coating, soon to be on the market, Threadmaster lite. I love it. It has all the great characteristics of Threadmaster, but with a decreased viscosity which makes it level faster and smoother. If you used a flame before you can throw it away. Should be on the market about Feb 1. Thanks Andy Dear for letting me try it. And go ahead and pl

Or go another route. Write it on paper, send it to Decal connection, and have them make a decal. I have been doing my signature this way for years.

The Fuji Titanium Strippers that I have used are very bright frames, and match chrome snakes beautifully. there is a slight different hue to the Ceramic rings though.

Dan, I have also asked myself the same question, and another issue. If there was a failure of a blank, will the manufacturer have a basis for disallowing the warranty of the guides are not placed as per their recommendations? They might feel that their placement places even stress on the blank and a deviation from that may put undue stress on it. For that reason, if it is a high quality blank, I

I did it the same way except made the recess slightly larger than the coin and deeper. Then dropped the coin in and filed it with Flexcoat. That was before threadmaster

Thye only thing I have seen work for reel seats is to put it in a plastic bag and place in boiling water. Unfortunatley the cork will probably insulate the epoxy so I am guessing you are screwed.

Steve, For my use I have found that the quality of the flash is about as important if not more than the camera. As Tom said you will not need super high resolution but a diffused light is absolutely necessary. I am going to assume your camera has a hot shoe. You need to get a flash that can rotate away from the rod. I rotate my flash towards the ceiling and play with various angles and the use o

I have the Nikon coolpix 5700 and love it. Not a pocket camera and not as bulky as an SLR. The downside to an SLR is no digital zoom so you are forced to having to change lenses to get long zooms. (my wife has one) I think one key feathure is a hot shoe. This will allow you to attach a good Flash, which really enhances you photo capabilities. Rod photos with back lighting or bounce flashes are

One more suggestion, No matter what you use, (I use a small log lighter, if anything.) I place my hand directly above the wrap when heating it. If my hand can't take it the wrap shouldn't either.

I just stick a jam a small piece of foil inside the ring, enough to make it stand out of the way. The pressure against the strap holds it in place.

I haven't done it but I know tailstock jaws are available. I think Penn state industries has them. It is basically a three jaw chuck and a Morse taper with a bearing in between.
