Robert. If you can tell me why they use an extra guide for the center pin I would be interested. The Center pin rod that is on the dryer right now does not have 14 guides and a tip top. This rod has a 10" rear grip , an size 17 reel seat( aprox 4.5")and a 9" fore grip. Using MHX spacing the first guide would then be 12" in front of the foregrip. The spacing I use to

You could also wrap a guide for the tip top instead of using a tiptop.Plus I think with 10 number 8s you have too many guides.

I would suggest a 17. Seems to be the most comfortable for me and I have large hands.

I have had the rainshadow ,both models, the CTS and the MHX blanks all in my shop. I think for the money the MHX is a very nice blank.

Why would he want an exposed blank reel seat? A musky does not have a soft bite and therefore senstivity is not an issue. Plus most guys are using larger round baitcasters for reels such as the Calcutta so there is no need or way to palm the reel. I would ask these questions before ruining a good reel seat by trying to mill out a window that serves no purpose.

Just posted some pictures of a rod I built for a customer who has arthritis and carpal tunnel. He uses this rod to troll bottom bouncers and worm harness for walleye. The rod is spiral wrapped and the upright handle is offset and tilted forward to allow access to the reel.

Is the rod going to be used with a center pin reel? . Start from the tip of the rod and work down . Start at 3" to 3 1/2" from the tip to the first guide and then add 1" to each guide. EG 3.5 , 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, and so forth. From there a little static testing should work out for you. If you are going to be fishing in icey wheather then you may want to up size your guides on the tip t

I am in Bowmanville. The HST is always there. Unless you get stuff sent usps which sometimes slips it through but this does not work for blanks.

Why use a spey blank when there are many blanks designed for float rod/ centre pin use. MHX and Batson both have blanks for that purpose. I dont know if you want a 6" butt for a cnter pin but I will let other chime in. Most guys that I build for have the butt of the rod just reach their elbow an the top of the reel seat at their pinky. What is a stubble 28/29??

Install the handle like normal but do not push butt of blank to the very end. Glue in the trapazoidal plug. wait til dry and cut off and sand. no need to cut your plug as it comes supplied. No need to cut off any rings. The st Croix handles are actually very easy to install .

Is your rod level in the dryer? Thin is just covering the threads and if the bubbles don't come out you probably have way too much epoxy as the bubbles can't make it out .

So after an 1/2 hour of fighting a muskie on an ultra light and the fish dies does that make it right? Either use the right gear or dont fish.

I wrap spirals when using 5's and up but when using 4's and smaller i wrap them conventional. There is enough push back by my customers that it's not worth arguing about.

I would like to know why you are building a spiral wrapped using micros? The major advantage of the spiral was to eliminate torque on the rod. With the micros being so close to the blank there isn't a lot of torque to eliminate. I think that most of the guys that are using micros have stopped wrapping spirals as there was no real advantage. I mabe wrong on this so any one who whishes to chime

I was asked for a 7' 6" drop shot rod. Any suggestions as to which blank to use or just extend a blank. There is a Stcroix 3s76mlxf blank. would this work???? I don't know why he want that long a blank for drop shotting.
