Bill I think you would find something to complain about no matter where you were. Or how hard people work to make things easier.

I make my centerpins so the butt end just reaches the elbow when holding the fore grip just in front of the reel. This usually is 9-10 1/2 inches long. If it gets too long when casting it gets caught up in your jacket etc.

When you do repairs you have the persons rod in your hands. No cash no rod its pretty simple. Then sell the rod on @#$%& or find a kid that wants a rod.

Dennis The microwaves come as a set for a reason. Not for you to place t he stripper on any old rod with any guides and expect it to work as well as the complete line control system. Like to know why you feel it is a Half assed Titanium guide? Lynn I would be putting on the Micro wave guides on your rod. I am certain that you will be impressed.

A 6wt or 7 wt will work. depending on whether he wishes to fish chinnoks. I presume you are talking small flows of water in the great lakes area. Are you using a reel seat or sliding rings as this will determine rear grip lenght. You say he is going to use a spining reel . I would use the American tackle A frame guides starting with a 25,16,12,10, and then either 7's or 8's to the tip.

On a 2500 I would use a 25 or 20 as the stripper guide. By using a 16 and having it too close to the reel face is causing part of your trouble. Most strippers are at the 20-22 inch mark.

Time to find some die hard carp anglers here. Not too many surf guys in Ontario. Looks really good though. Are they the Tidal wave titanium or stainless steel?

The rod is tip heavy to begin with so why would you add even more weight with size 8's. I would use the american tackle A frame guide and no larger then a size 7. Since this is an experiment for you I would not go and use the ATC titans which are a fantastic guide.

Are you fishing in Ice conditions?8's are too big in my opinion. I use the American Tackle A frame guides or the Titan guides for all my builds. 20,12,10,8,8,8, and then 7s all the way out. . You could start from the tip and go 3.5 ,4.5, 5.5 and just keep adding 1 inch to your spacing. Then static deflection.

I have a request to build a Musky rod for a spinning reel. Has anyone else built one of these. The blank is a MU84MH MHX. I was going to go to a size 20 reel seat and 12" rear with a 5-6" forgrip. My question is will the American tackle BTRLA Ring Lock A-Frame Spinning Guides be durable enough to handle Muskies? Would you single wrap or would you double wrap these guides? I always

The free trade agreement is there. Chris is being charged the taxes owing coming in to Canada not any duties. If he was to be charged duties it would be on the blank from China the reel seats from China and the guides. We get charged duty on anything that is not made in the US or Mexico. On top the taxes.

Mudhole will only send up to 100 dollars through usps. Also when you are talking blanks of 7 ' the canadian post office frowns on the lenght. If you are buying all mudhole products then talk to Andy Snedden at Rodbuilder Supply. He carries the blanks etc and is in Victoria BC. still going to pay tax but shipping may be less. I have a completed rod to send to Fordwich which is 2 hours away. Canad

You will be charged for the taxes which will be aprox 30 bucks plus FedEx charges for brokerage fees. and if the products are from China there may be duties. Then take in to account that 250 US is more like 275 Can.

How many of you have used a Sage spey blank to make into a float/centerpin rod? What are your thoughts about this? Was it for you or was it for a customer? What model and seris did you use? Looking at either the Method or the One series in the 7136-4 or 6126-4. Any feedback.

Side cast or Wallis cast makes a difference in guide placement. I agree it should be where you would place you r first guide as a stripper on a fly rod.

Would like to see how you would wrap a forhan wrap on a snake guide. This would be the same as a locking wrap on a double foot guide.

These guides are / were used frequently on either Center pin float rods or as the name says Match rods. Small guides with a high frame to keep the line off of the blank and lessen the weight on the tip of these long 13 to 20 foot rods.

Roger Have you ever fished with a 15" rod and a float reel attached? then you know it is a pain to reach to the back of the rod to attach the hook to a hookkeeper. I think the biggest thing was why put a split grip on a float rod??? Dont know too many people that are running 15" leads. If you are building a 15" rod with reel seat then the last thing you are worried about is the

Same as Rick? Why a split grip on a 15' float rod.? Just finished 2 15' CTS float rods full cork on both with burlcork included and still added weight to the butt as per customers request. The 15" is tip heavy to begin with, so your wrist is going to be some sore after a day of fishing. If you are going to add weight and have a split grip that may be a different story just will have to add

How close to the tip is the rod supported when the rod is drying. If the suppoert is too far away it may cause the tip to vibrate a bit causes the expoxy to ball up more then on the guides.
