Not stuck on the whole protectionist economics but if all things were the same sure I would buy Canadian but I wont limit my choices to it. I have to take a look at all things including duty, 13% tax and shipping so if there was a canadian blank I could safe on duty but that is all.

The US is not where I make my living but the people at Mudhole, Batson, pacific bay and others do make their living there. So their income and the people that recieve the shipments from overseas, transport it, stock it and distribute it dosen't matter according to you. As I live in a country that all rodbuilding stuff is imported then I don't worry too much about where the product co

Just wondering why a domestic blank? I think that Hydra blanks are us made.
You are going to buy a domestic blank to put chinese guides and portugese cork and japenesse thread with off shore epoxies on it? Just does not make sense to me.

I don't see the problem here. You are either running a business where the cost of the shipping is part of the cost of the rod or you want the high end guides for yourself. If they are for yourself then either buy cheaper guides or accept the fact that they are expensive.
Do you not have any relatives in the USA that may be willing to accept the order from your dealer, repackage it and send it t

The show is over and numerous people came by to talk rodbuilding or even to be exposed to rodbuilding. Overall impression was that this show was a success for us and to the anglers of the GTA. Lots of interest in the Micro wave guides just wished we werent at -10 and snow so we could go and cast.

101. Re: Microwave Guides
The stripper guide is the same size in all the kits. If you are going to use the rod in the salt go with the titanium guides. Very easy to set up and the instructions are clear.

Folks
Wayne Diduch and I will be at the Spring Fishing and Boat Show demonstrating rodbuilding and promoting rodbuilding on a whole to the public. We will also be showing off the American Tackle Microwave Guides. These guides have just won their third award at Chinafish. Way to go American Tackle. I dont believe anyone around here has seen them. If you are at the show please stop by and say hell

I have to agree with Dave.. You say it is a centerpin so I presume you are using a centerpin reel. Is it an offset such as the anglers specialty reel or is it a standard ree. My set up is with my hand on the fore grip my pinky is just touching the rim of the reel. the butt of the rod will be just at my elbow.
If you are using a sizre 17 or 18 reel seat i would think for the average person t

What did that answer have to do with the OP'S question? Why do you post answers that mean nothing?

110. Re: loose reel seat
Yes that will work, you may want to use thread epoxy as I think you will have a hard time injecting rod bond. You could drill a small hole where the locking nut ends up when tightened on the reel.

Not certain what the paint coming off of a blank , or the health care problems in the USA has to do with Mudhole buying out Merrick but more power to Mudhole. I am certain that merrick wasn't forced into selling out but had made a decission based on their personal needs and wants. This will just add more products to Mudholes large line up and make it easier for me.

Where would you use 20 cc of finish on a 10 ft rod? You can do the whole rod first coat with 6cc and still have left overs. Another 4 cc for the second coat if required and your done.

Not certain what you are asking here? The FLW has rods that are given out as you enter an event. but each angler in the tournement has his own arsenal of rods of various lenghts and power .

So Bill I know you are stuck in your ways but I have to ask why would you thin out High build when there is light build available?

Since your market is the Bass guys you cannot build a rod over 8' for tournement fishing. Pretty hard to beat the mass market boys at their own game. You have to build a better rod for a fair price.

There has been discussion on not using the simple spiral on a flipping stick. What method do most of you use on a flipping stick?
I have not had a problem with the simple method where we put one guide at the 90 degree mark. Using size 5 guides.
Just want to be sure there is not a better way.

Noodle rods which are the slow action rods are not the best for handling fish. Greater chance of killing them due to the stresses placed on them.
Better choices would be the float or centerpin blanks with a moderate action.
