Not sure that epoxy is ever a good handle coating. I'd use Helmsman Spar Urethane in that situation. I'm sure others will have their own favorites. .................

Because as the rod flexes deep into the butt (if it does) the line will move a bit between the 1st and 2nd guide. If the ring on the bumper is too small, the bumper guide will experience a side load. There is no need for this. A larger ring allows some movement without incurring a side load and without interfering with the line as it moves from the top to the bottom of the rod. Obviously, man

You'll probably have to a bit more specific with a model number or something. Unless and until we know what blank you have it's hard to run the numbers on a mere guess. ..............

Right, on some uplocking fly reel seats, the forward hood is made to be hidden into the grip. So if you flip it around, you have an unfinished hood showing. With the exception of some fly reel seats, about anything else can be positioned either up or downlocking. With some fly seats, you have to order the seat for the specific application you desire. .............

The Shopsmiths were very good machines. It takes time to set up for each new operation since it's several machines in one. But again, they were good machines. It would easily turn any type of cork grip you would ever want, but it might be overkill if that's all you're going to do with it. ...............

You can still use a bumper guide - it doesn't play any role in the transition. It just keeps the line off the blank. I'd use a size 8 or 10 low frame casting guide for the bumper, however. ..............

It's in volume 10 #4. The outer diameter of the spool is what the line must contend with as it flows out and over the spool lip. Thus, that is the important part when taking the measurements. ..............

The line will transition itself to the bottom of the rod - you do not have to take it there, it will go there all by itself if you will let it. .............

I doubt the line will notice any difference between a 4 and a 5. If it hasn't lost its coils by then, well... I'd go ahead and swap the 5 for a 4. ...............

Installation instructions for easily getting EVA into place can be found on the FAQs page. Bernie pretty much covered it. EVA can be stretched a long, long way with this method. However, as Bernie noted, if you have inlays or trim rings in the grip it's better to ream it to a close fit and not attempt to stretch it too much. ..............

It is not too old - epoxies don't get "old." It will last longer than you will. Okay, now exactly what's the problem. It could be a case of amine blush that can and sometimes does occur when there is a certain concentration of humidity and CO2 present. Neither of these alone can cause it and it takes a certain combination for it to occur, but it can and does happen. Does the s

I assume that's a Bass Pro Shops rod. I doubt it's a Fenwick, but even if it was it wouldn't have been one of the older U.S. made Fenwick rods, which were pretty darn good rods. Still, it was a good value when it sold and if it's not damaged it should be worth fixing. ...........

Most of the standard office type text printers (which still do a great job with photos and graphics) are only about $90 to $100 these days. I think I paid $85 for the C88. You don't need a "photo quality" printer to do this or much of anything else. ................

The combination of 2 dark colors on the bottom means that your effect will be very subtle or minimal. High contrast in the bottom 2 colors provides a more striking effect. If you want purple as your main color, use black and white on the bottom and purple on the top. ...........

Hard to say. I'm doing okay with an Epson C88. Not sure what the current model is. My older Epson C84 left tiny marks when the feed wheels were running across the wet ink. The newer one doesn't do it, but with the archival ink I have to set my saturday down to about 60% or 70% to keep the ink from puddling on the holographic and metallic papers. Other than the white media, the ink doesn't soa

The information on the Manta Site is incorrect. Try this: It is rare that online transactions themselves would ever result in your card information being stolen. That sort of thing only happens via the internet when somebody stores your card information and their system is compromised. I don't store credit card numbers nor customer information. Of course, if you feel safer you can m

Choose a category to put your photos into. If that's not it, scale your photos smaller. There is a maximum size limit of 2000 pixels square. Above that, it won't accept them. It should also be in jpg file format. Ideal size is 800 pixels square - that's all most computer monitors can display anyway. ...........

It will be higher on top of the thread than in the open areas between the threads. That's just the way it's going to be. If you want a flat surface finish, you're going to have to make a flat wrap (closed wrap). Or, you can build up multiple layers of epoxy, block sanding and repeating, until the low areas are filled and level with the areas on top of the thread. There are your 2 options.
