Need to know an ERN

I have tested some ERNs on rods before but I really don't trust my numbers, some have been really close to what I have seen on the data base and some have not. I have a 9' 8 wt blank I got from binghams clearance they have been doing. I really like the rod but I need a heavier line for it. The heaviest line I have is a 7 wt and I can only afford to by one new line at the moment. So, has anyone tested the ERN of those blanks. I know the manufacturer but I don't know if I should advertise it because she didn't have it advertised on her site. At any rate, has anyone tested the ERN on one of these blanks. I don't know if I should go with an 8 or a 9 wt line. It is a fairly stiff fast action and I don't have any experience with a rod with this heavy an action, all of my previous rods have been in the 00 to 6 wt range and moderate to moderate fast action. You'll probably have to a bit more specific with a model number or something. Unless and until we know what blank you have it's hard to run the numbers on a mere guess.

I know it was made by advanced tubular, I am not sure of the exact model number, it just says F908-4 which I know could be a generic number but it is a dark maroon/brown/plum color and is marketed as a 9' 8 wt. Has a fast action and the butt diameter is .420 and it has between a 4.5 and a 5.0 tip, listed as a 5.0. I realize they went out of business and I cannot find any of their blanks on the rod data list. Hope this helps.

Hopefully someone that has one can run the numbers for you.

Cody,
Based on the butt and tip diameters should throw an 8 to 8-1/2 line. Try a RIO grand or SA GPX 8 weight these run 1/2 weight heavy. Re: Need to know an ERN

The thing is, any rod will throw an 8-weight line, at some distance. The question that hasn't been asked is at what general distance do you plan to fish the rod mostly?
