Have a friend that needs some guides that may be discontinued. They are Fuji KLAG in sizes 8H ( 1 needed) and size 10H ( 2 needed). Anyone have any to spare? Please post and I will forward your contact info. Thanks.

Yes he did some testing using the fuji reel seat but the drag settings (excess of 60 lbs) used for testing the blank against giant bluefins exceeded the application recommended by the manufacturer. The blank held up without failure but the reel seat hood failed from the excess pressure thus I am looking for something a bit stronger. I did call Mudhole today and they first said to use an aluminu

Thank you for that. I also notice that American Tackle also has graphite seats with aluminum hoods. Anyone else use these and will they fit the 50 Internationals?

Definitely a trip of a lifetime.... but we are going to do it again next year. The season is so short

I think that I would like another 50 size reel with more drag. Been thinking Makaira. However, my other two rods were mounted with a Intl 70 and 80. Just a luck of the draw.

Hi Mark. Yes it is the 450 gr Black Hole blank. In fact I am waiting for shipment today by Fedex. I built the Black Hole Giant blank a month ago and had it at PEI but did not get bit on it. The giant rod will go to PV but I needed something a bit lighter and Kil told me to get this 450 gr blank. I've seen pictures of it on a PEI Giant and it bends all the way into the handle past the reel se

I just returned from Prince Edward Island where I fished standup with a Braid harness/belt. I fished 60# of drag and the fish thought nothing of it and quickly pulled off line from my 50SW. It measured 112 inches and weight approximated at 900#s. I needed a bigger reel with more drag. Headed for Puerto Vallarta next and need this next build for yellowfin tuna in the 200# range.

The blank was originally intended for heavy jigging. It will be a combination jigging and standup tuna rod using 130# line. It is my understanding that the failed fuji reel seat was caused by using in excess of 60# of drag. The hood failed and I do not know if a reel clamp was used although I would assume so.

I am building a 450gr heavy parabolic rod. I have been told that I should not use a aluminum reel seat because this blank will bend all the way into the handle where the reel seat will be placed. They suggested a Fuji graphite reel seat but on one of their test rods, the fuji reel seat was damaged. I will be mounting a international 50 sized reel and am wondering what are the recommendations f

Not sure which one I want. The size 40 comes with a "L" designation. What is the "L" for? I need the more sturdier of the two. Which should I order?

This information would be more valuable for measuring a paste epoxy. Thankfully, the mix can be off a bit and it will still work fine.

Hi Tom This blank is rated 80 lb line and is for casting large poppers to tuna. I need a strong guide and already have the mnsg on hand but could change if you can suggest a high frame guide that would work . Plan to fill the reel with 80 hollow spectra and a very short fluorocarbon top shot that will be past the tip when casting ...probably only 6 ft long.

Very good idea. I have been using 30 lb mono with a uni knot, around the blank. Place guides in loop and tighten down the uni knot.

I am building a 8.5 ft spinning rod with a stella 20k. Spool diameter of 2.9 inches times 27 makes the choke guide at 78 inches which is only 3 inches from the tip. Fuji MNSG 40 is about 2.5 inches tall and guide placement falls at 40 inches from reel spool. Too much in my opinion. I know placements are approximate only but how much fudge room do i I have? At 30 inches I have 3 inches space

I am building a heavy saltwater spinning popping rod. It is 8 1/2 feet and will be fished with a Stella 20K with up to 80 lb test. I will be using the 27X method of guide placement but need suggestions of what style guides to use. Strength, cost, and weight are the chief factors. The blank is a butt joint and airline travel is a definite concern. I have always just used the MNSG but wa

My wife wants snake skin on her next rod. How is it applied to the rod blank. Can it be used under the guides and how far up the blank can it be applied? Or is it just for the lower and thicker part of the blank? Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

I have been using Aftco UB4 unibutt and was wondering if the Alutecnos ALB4SS is interchangeable with the UB4? I would go back to the Aftco but am unable to find any UB4Shorts. These are not in the Aftco catalog and I suspect that this was a special run for stand up fishing rods. I have already contacted Aftco and they said that they never made any and will not make any. Funny thing is that

Thanks, I guess I will go with the dry wall mesh and just get it really tight. Fortunately, I have three other rods that have the bent butts on them and since I only have one straight butt, I wanted to add another. The bent and the straight butts are all interchangeable so no problem in going from one to the other.

Sorry Jay but that is a bit impractical......LOL. Hopefully, Fuji will come out with something heavier? In the meantime, does anyone still have a set of USG's that I can buy from them? Billy?

I was just thinking that there might be another way to do this. The drywall tape has to be wound on very tightly or the blank will not seat straight. This is not a problem if the build up is not too thick but if you have to fill a lot of space, it can be a problem. I was thinking that I can find a piece of blank to glue in to build up the diameter a bit and then use the drywall tape to make up

I want to use an Aftco UB4 Straight butt on a blank that is considerably smaller in diameter than the ID of the Aftco. The OD of the blank is only 5/8" whereas the ID of the Aftco is 1". What would you use to close the gap to fit the blank to the Aftco? This is for an rod that is rated 80 - unlimited so the connection has to be super strong.
