Snake skin

My wife wants snake skin on her next rod. How is it applied to the rod blank. Can it be used under the guides and how far up the blank can it be applied? Or is it just for the lower and thicker part of the blank? Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

You can put it anywhere you like but the further you go up toward the tip the more the extra weight effects the action of the rod. Glue it on with cp, after dry put a couple more coats of cp on, then finish with your thread epoxy.

Mel,
You can put the skin on anywhere you want. The secret is proper sizing and cutting. Strongly suggest you view the "how to" video on the Mud Hole website. That should take care of most of your questions. Then see if a dealer will sell you some low grade skins that you can practice on mocking on a piece of blank scrap.
