I made a 12' gaff out of an old fiberglass VHF antenna I found....ripped all the inners out to lighten up...works great

use the Renzetti to hold and put a C-clamp on the foot peddle to rotate..........

Before I slide the grip on I heat the EVA with a heat gun then slide with a twist down the blank......I think the heat lets the EVA expand a little more and easier

Before you wrap the rod...lay everything out and where the neon thread is going paint the blank WHITE or SILVER then wrap....when done CP two coats...... The darkening is coming from the blank....

Just wanted to thank Billy and the nerbs for another great gathering..The food was great, the sugar rush kept everyone on their toes LOL ( NO MORE SUGAR FOR GABE ) The talent packed in one room was sick, Some the rods and techniques were just crazy..Their was guys outside teaching stuff...inside in the front of shop..the back of the shop....so much info flowing around... I agree with Paul....The only thing I would suggest is to paint the blank white under the neon threads...make the color really bright....

Michaels art supply store has these 3/4"or 1" thick foam letters & numbers in pink that I cut disks out of and glue up for a pink and light blue grip I made for a pink rod........
