Peter, here is what I have done in the past. If you can set up a rest for your hand with the epoxy it will GREATLY aid you in keeping your hand steady. I will tell you that even if you drink way too much coffee (or barley soda's) as I often do, you will be able to clean it up with a coffee filter with alcohol and create a nice straight line that way. It is what works for me and I am sure there w

I have worked with yellow threads on black (slate) and painted under the guide and the yellow was as vibrant on the rod as it was on the spool. Might be an option for you to consider. Tom

Morning Gents. I have some of the LMB's that I picked up on closeout. I have the 783,784 and 785. I was thinking about making them into spinnerbait (783) worm (784) and Jig(785) what do ya'll think? any other suggestions for these? I was also thinking Senko for the 784 since I have already built an IMC 784 for this purpose and am pleased with it. thanks and have a great day Tom

Raymond, How do you think the flocking would be as far as comfort? Do you feel it would cause the hand to sweat or be uncomfortable in any sense? thanks Tom

Do any of you guys have a blank that you will use in place of this one? I absolutely love how this blank feels and would like to build 4 of them as general purpose spinning bass rods to be used for tubes, rapala's, small worm's and such... I am just trying a save a bit of coin as the wife will have my hide if I spend another 500.00 for more rods for myself. I want to stay in the 6' range as this

Well Bill, I look at it this way. Yes, you should have caught the mistake but honestly I don't know a tournament guy that wouldn't have tried to "quick fix it" i.e.... ram hook through epoxy and clean up... I know that I have have done it in the past when I got a rod back from Falcon where they had done the exact same thing. Honestly I don't know a tourney guy that wouldn't have caught

Tom, Scott's suggestion of the quick bond is spot on. I can tell you before I started using it, I had been using the Devcon 5 min. The only limitation with the Devcon will be having all the parts ready to go. You don't have much room for error in the assembly as it sets up QUICK. I had used the 5 min for almost the last 5 years on a couple hundred rods and have yet to have a single fail

Good Afternoon gents, I am hoping that you all may be able to help me out a bit here. I am looking for some metallic butt plugs similar to the REC's. Do you all know if there are any other companies making these? I have most of the sponsors but did not come up with anything. If I could find them with a OD of approximately 7/8 of an inch that would be fant

George, if your trout are not exceptionally educated and require expensive rods, you should check out Swampland, they have some 842 popping blanks that should do fine. They are listed under thier closeouts and you have your choice of black or blue..... Can't beat them for the price. Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

Another good word for them. I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to post this. I purchased a few of the eva split grips for topwater rods that I am making and on my first order I forgot to mention that I was wanting the foam butt caps. On my second order I asked that he include a few spares and simply charge accordingly. He went WAY above and beyond and included more than I neede

Doug, They way that I understand the concept system to work is that you want to have a butt guide that is approximately half the diameter of the spool. I.E. 45 mm spool I would go with a 25, the other thing you will want to consider is going to be line size. If you are going to be using something around the area of 6lb, I wouldn't think that you would really need a 25.... if you have the artic

1348. craft foam
Morning Gentlemen, I've yet another question for the pro's and people who have already tried this. I am interested in using some craft foam in handles. What are it limitations? Can you make an entire handle out of it, or is it best suited for inlays/trim rings? thanks a ton Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC

I asked a similar question a while back and was given the response of painting the blank white under the area to be wrapped! I tried it and it worked like a charm. Tom K GySgt USMC
