You are correct about the competing lines but then again Mudhole has competition with in itself. It sells many brands of blanks so why not add another one? Yes and no about the slicing the pie into more peices as well. Batson is just getting started in my mind. I had never heard of them a few months ago and MANY people ot there have never heard of Batson. With their line up in both selection and

Just a quick question. Why doesnt Mudhole carry Batson. I used to be a buyer and GM for a big box electronics store so i am well aware as to how it all works. They are two great companies and together i think they would move a ton of great product. I understand maybe Batson is more of a bricks and mortar outlet but i see other places do carry Batson goods online. Cmon Batson and Mudhole join forc

Ok guys here is my question. I measured the tip of my rod blank and its .235 inches. What size tip top do i need? All the other rods i put together came with the tip tops so i have never had to figure that one out before. Again thanks for your help!

I just bought 4 of the SP-KC50 blanks for halibut rods. Are the blanks really unfinished and ugly looking. THese i got from Mudhole and they say they are Gloss Black so is that smooth gloss back? Also are they solid glass? I hope i did not screw up. I got them for Halibut fishing in Alaska

I just finished my 10wt last night and i used Threadmaster. I really liked it! I used Flex Coat on the 1st rod an it was good but Threadmaster was much better. I felt it leveled better had longer pot life and released bubbles easier. I found it to me more forgiving and gave a better final look. If you are new to rod building try Theadmaster out! You will love it

Pretty much all fly tying thread is waxed. some more than other but all have some wax. Also fly tying thread is flat. Rod thread is round.

I did my first epoxy finish last night about 10pm. The epoxy in the cups is still tacky. Is that normal? I was using Flex Coat high build. Thanks!

Ok here goes. I am looking for a pink rod blank for halibut fishing. My buddies wife up in AK always complains she does not have her own rod. She also complains that everyone grabs her rod when we head out. I would love to make her a pink rod. Any one know where i can get a 5-6 ft pink blank that will handle 65lb line?

Does the epoxy stop fading on your guide windings on a finished rod? OK its a dumb question but my rod will be in the sun a lot as all rods are. How do you keep the thread in the wraps from fading?

Whats your favorite brand of color preserver?

I have a question. As i understand it color preserver prohibits the epoxy from soaking into the thread. Doesnt that weaken the bonding and result in a weaker wrap? I got bit by the building bug and am working on 2 fly rods and next 2 halibut rods. I would love to be able to use a color preserver on two of them but not if its going to diminish the wrap strength. Thanks again for all your help!!
