How do you keep your wraps for fading?

Does the epoxy stop fading on your guide windings on a finished rod? OK its a dumb question but my rod will be in the sun a lot as all rods are. How do you keep the thread in the wraps from fading?

To keep the wraps from fading in the sun, don't put the wraps in the sun.

Kevin,

Roger always gives the most concise answer and this one is no different. He was right to the point. If given a lot of sun exposure the colors will fade.

Some cp`s and epoxies claim to be a little more UV resistant which may help some.

I only get out fishing once or twice a week and usually then it is in the morning, so I really haven`t had much fading on the first rod i built going on four years.

Often when you see that an epoxy has "UV Inhibitors" it is referring to chemicals that keep the epoxy from degrading as quickly under UV light exposure, not necessarily something to protect the item/s under the epoxy.

I have many rods that over the years have thread fade on top - the side facing the sun. LIghter colors are more prone to this. Sky blue, pale tans and browns, red, yellow, etc. So you might think about using darker colors for the main wraps and the lighter colors for trims. At this time you can't totally prevent colors from fading in the sun. Even your car's interior, paint, home roof, etc., all fade under UV light. It's the nature of the beast.
