Trondak U-40 has a cork sealer. Most of the vendors on the left carry it. I used it, good results.

64. No Split Grip
From what i have read i see split grips are popular with the bass fisherman. What bass fishing technique, if any that you might prefer no split grip and why?
Thanks,
Roger

I am in the process of getting up a order for to build a surf rod with split grip and i wanted to use EVA. I have never used EVA before and i was wondering about the EVA id i need if the butt is .725. I assume i would order 1/2" id. Any other tips on building a surf rod with split grips would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks Tom. I usually order 2 each go guides from the butt guide to the running guides and i thought i order 2 sv20 but i didn't. I believe a sv 20 would been better than the 16sv.

76. Minima Set Up
I am building on a RX7 IP843 blank using a 3000 series reel with 10# mono. On my set up i found the choke guide with 27x method. My butt guide is a 20M then SV16-SV10-F6 to tip. My question is the distance between the butt guide and the next reduction guide is 14ins. This is my first try with the Minima guides. The few rods i have built the the reduction guide is closer to the butt guide. Is

Building first fly rod which is IF-866 and i was doing some searches and i see that you be alright to use a reel one size bigger than the rod wt. So if i get a 203M reel rated 7/8 wt, do i get 6wt line or 7 wt line?
Thanks,
Roger

I haven't picked up a fly rod since mid 1960's, now since i am retired i thought i would try to a little fly fishing. Just looking for suggestions on what length, line weight and rod action would be a good starter. Used mostly for pan fish and trout streams. I have built bass rods and light saltwater rods, but thought i would try my hand at a fly rod. Also suggestion on reel seats and guides.

James,
I use the Lamiglas MB-1E for throwing gotcha plugs from piers (Kure). This blank was recommended when i asked the same question as you. I picked up RF Legacy Elite 726 from Swampland at the Expo for the same but haven't built on it yet.
