If i was looking for a blank for fishing from the surf using bottom rigs baited with shrimp, or blood worms, or sand fleas for pomps, blues, sea mullet what blank action should i be looking for. If it has been discussed on the forum when you would need extra fast, fast, mod-fast and slow action please steer me in the right direction. If a back issue of Rodmaker magazine has this info maybe someone can let me know which volume. I only build about 3 blanks a year and i pick my blank by what the specs the manufacture has for the blank but for the type of fishing using bottom rigs i am confused about the blank action i need.
Thanks Roger Re: Blank Action

I typically use Mod-Fast. The two most recent builds I did for this type of fishing were Rainshadows (SUR1385 and 1386) but they were discontinued. Good Luck. Re: Blank Action

I use mod to mod-fast type blanks in 8 to 10 ft lengths. Going to the fish the surf at Galveston today. Wish me luck. I recently finished a surf rod that I want to try out. Re: Blank Action

I fish the gulf from Alabama to PINS and almost exclusively use RFLE 765 Seeker S glass stretched to 8 foot plus from 7.5 that they come in.
I would go castaway 30/8 microwave with 7 mm minima 4 flys to the tip spinning on it. Also nice for throwing rigs with trebles up to around 1 oz. Lance at Swampland has them. Re: Blank Action
