I picked up 3 Rainshadow 822.5 blanks on close out and wondering if they would make a good swimbait rod. I will be throwing 3.5 to 4.5" swimbaits, (BP Sassy Sally, KVD Caffeine Shad) just to name a few. I will be fishing these couple different ways. 1) weightless, 2) 1/8 to 3/8oz jig heads, 3) 1/8 to 1/4oz weighted swimbait hooks, and 4) 1/8 texas rig, using 8lb floro. 2 blanks are RX7 and

Ken, Sceneiders Rod Shop has the 843 and 903 listed on their web site. I know people fish the 843 just south of New Bern in the Cape Fear river and loves them. I have the IP843 that i fish in Snows Cut at Carolina beach for specs and had good luck with it.

Iam planning to build a 10' surf rod for my grandson. He is big enough to handle a ten foot rod now. I am trying to figure which guides to use. The blank specks are 10', 1-4oz, 8-15 lb, ml power/mod-fast action, tip 8.5 and will be using penn 4000 fierce2 reel & 12 lb mono . Will be fishing bottom rig with 2 or 3oz weight and sand fleas or shrimp. I had thought of going with the KW's for r

I did a search on the action for flipping rods when punching and found this. Steve fishes a lot of tournaments and builds a lot of rods. I usually follow his advice when it comes to building rods for bass fishing. I see the subject of epoxy finish come up a lot on the forum. Just a suggestion here but maybe a seminar on the subject at the 2016 Expo could be worked in. That would be one i definite would attend.

Cameron-The lure weight of the gotcha plug that you describe is 7/8oz. Like Bob said if you could supply a little more info will help. I asked the same question about 3 years ago and the Lamiglas MB 84 1E was highly recommended and that is what i built on. I like the MHX blanks also but if you give a little more info Bob could help you. The blank i suggested is 1 piece.

I had 3 large O rings break into on my power wrapper in the last 3 months. I have checked for any ruff spots on the pulley and none to be found. The O ring is not tight. Goes on and off without much tension. The original O ring lasted almost 3 years. Anyone had this problem before or any suggestions i could check . The breaks are what you would say horizontal breaks. Thanks for any sugge

Thanks for all the suggestions. Jerry, I found those specs after i posted. I wonder why Schneiders Rod Shop has the specs rated higher. Bill Cohen, I have considered the Tommy Farmer rods, i have heard good reviews. Most of the whiting i catch around Kure Beach and Fort Fisher are close in. David, I usually hold the rod when fishing and put in sand spike when baiting up when i am fishing for

Looking for a blank for whiting, aka kingfish up north. Will be fishing high low rig and using sand fleas and pieces of shrimp. I will be fishing the surf along the southeast coast of NC, and usually with the current need 3oz of weight to hold bottom and keep in feeding hole. Distance is not a concern. This will be built as a spinning rod using 12 or 15lb fluro. I was looking at Batson ISA St
