i have noticed on some spinning rods, mainly high end JDM stuff that sometimes the stripper guide is reversed and placed on the rod so that the foot og the guide points towards the tip (single foot guides)
i am guessing this is to do so that the line hits the ring of the guide first and therefore decreases line tangles around the stripper guide
could anyone shed some more light on this and

Thanks for the input spencer
judging by some of the input from here and on another forum
it seems the Mebaru blank is more suited to what i need
any other opinions are more than welcome

funny you say that tom
T Russel Agnetha TR76A-XUL2:
Tip Diam: 1.3mm
Butt Diam: 7.4
T Russel Mebaru TR74Mebaru-M
Tip Diam: 1.1mm
Butt Diam: 11.0mm
that would say to me exactly as you wrote. the bottom mebaru blank would still cast the light lures and the tip would fold down nicely. yet still retain some power in the butt

Hey guys,
ok here's a question
how different do you think these two blanks would be?
and which do you think is more suited to casting casting small 2-5gram hardbodies but sometimes will need to cast plastics ranging from 1/32-1/8

Forum: rodboard 15 years ago

yeah i thought that would be the best option

hey guys
a little question,
at the moment when building my UL spinning rods for bream spinning over here in AUS i use size 6 running guides in the NGC setup
what im wadering is could i go lower and still pass maybe a 10lb leader knot with say a size 5 guide?
and are the new LBD guides better for passing knots since they are on an angle? therefore a bigger opening?
and if anyone has

17. T-Russel Blanks
Hey,
flicking through the matagi catalouge last night i was trying to decide what i wanted to do with a rod plan i had in my head. Well i sorted out the grip and everything like that but i still needed to choose a blank.
what i need is something 7'6'' long with a fast or Xfast action, a line rating of around 2-4kg and it needs to be pretty sensitive
i saw one of the T-Russel blanks in th

24. Re: help please
8's pass 60lb leader fine
i have 8's on my 6-17lb spinning setup to throw exact same lures at exact same fish
the 60lb leader is used for abraison resistance
normally we have 15lb braid attached to that leader
we vary from spot to spot, using 20lb leader, 40lb and 60lb at the really nasty spots
Thanks mate
and i always use forhan wrap ;)

i am building up a MB783 IMX for a mate here in australia as a general purpose BC to be matched to an Alphas R edition
what i need help with is the guides
he wants titanium framed sics as his guides but im unsure of what models to use.
he needs the guides to pass a 60lb leader knot with ease so i was leaning towards an 8 or 7
he wants it as light a

28. Painting an IMX?
hey guys,
well my dad has just got back into building and he just purchased the P844 IMX popping blank to roll up into a snapper stick for over here in aus.
What he wants to do is paint the blank (probably a greeny color) but he is pretty "nah shell be right mate" in his building techinques and not as @#$%& bent on perfection as i am.
Now his plan that he just told me was to pa

Hey guys
about to build my first decent baitcasting rod, and well i wouldnt really know where to start to work out guide spacings.
im all good with spinning but not so for Baitcasters
the blank is a G Loomis MB783 IMX
so is there any specific way to work out general spacings before you tweak them using static tests?
