i have noticed on some spinning rods, mainly high end JDM stuff that sometimes the stripper guide is reversed and placed on the rod so that the foot og the guide points towards the tip (single foot guides)
i am guessing this is to do so that the line hits the ring of the guide first and therefore decreases line tangles around the stripper guide could anyone shed some more light on this and wether or not its beneficial to the rods? in the rods i would use it on we are talking UL stuff with ultra thin PE braid Thanks Re: Reversed Stripper Guide?

If the line hits the frame anywhere - the guide is in the wrong place. Correctly located, the line doesn't care which way the guide is sitting - it's only concerned with the ring opening.

I have 2 rods with reversed stripper guides, one is a megabass, and the other is a custom. I have notice no positive or negative issues with them. I also have a couple JDM casting rods with reversed stripper. I think it is an eccentric look at best no casting gains Re: Reversed Stripper Guide?

Just remember the guid ring is still at or almost 90% to the blank. Front or back the ring is still at the same inches away from the reel. The only differnce I can see is in one position the guide foot is pulling into the blank and in the other position the guide foot is pulling away from the blank. Think about this double footed guides do this all the time, but the ring stays stationary.
