can i ask what color madiera thread you used for under and over wraps.
looks like black over and black and green under??
i want to do something along those lines for my next rod
Forum: rodboard 16 years ago

you could wrap the tip normally, epoxy then use a dremel tool to carefully sand/cut/file away the pretruding part of the blank then epoxy over.
i dont know if it would work just off the top of my head

thanks andrew really appreciate it.
yeha tha TATSG do look awesome its just a matter of do i have the money.
went on mudhole and it worked out to cost me about $178 australian plus postage which i have no clue about costs.
so the TATSG are a option if i buy from mudhole i think.

just lookign at cork on mudhole found the burnt cork rings with light and dark mix and really like the look of them maybe turn a grip out of that then insert slithers of Houn Pine maybe 1 8th inch width on random angles.
i remember seeing a pic of this done but with cork insted of wood looked really cool and becaus the Pine is light colored it COULD look really nice with the light mix burnt co

its ridiculously stupid :D haha
i just had a look at the soft touch reel seat looks nice but i am keen on the IPS handle setup but with a split rear grip maybe the IPSD it looks a bit more classy. sorry if i misunderstood and that is actually the one you were talking about.
yeah im still tossing up between the wood or cork. i am leaning towards maybe combining the two by turning custom cork
Forum: rodboard 16 years ago
Tom Slater
yeah i am thinking they would not look nice together.
the wood i am using is Huon Pine i am not sure of the weight but i dont think its overly heavy another option is i turn my own custom cork grips.
yeah theTD advantage has 1 less bearing for 50 dollars more...
i asked the question because i liked the look of the TATSG but if its not right its not right so i might just go alconites or i

139. what sort of wood???
hey i am getting ready for my next build and would like to turn a custom split grip handle much like the FUJI ips split grip kit thingy and was wondering in Tasmanian Houn Pine is an alrigth wood to use??
it has a very light color and the grain is just awesome in some pieces. i want a fairly light colored wood so this fits the bill plus i can get nice big blocks for free.
i am guessing ill

141. Is This Correct??
i just ordered parts for my mates new rod and had intended to do the NGC setup but the rod builder at the shops said you will improve casting distance using normal high frame guides becasue theere will be less line slap, but isnt the point of teh NGC to have 3 high frame guides to get line going straight then drop down to fly guides for weight reduction and therefore better casting.
just did

ok so i am thinking this:
buy the: IPSM16/B Graphite Spinning Reel Seat Body
KDPS Quick-Lock Hooded Foregrip
Plus buy the moulded cork for each
then trim middle part out of rear cork handle thus turning it into a split grip, then trimming the KDPS forgrip part to whatever suits then reshaping the cork to suit.
Does that sound good to you guys?
or alte

thank you for the feedback.
Yes i was going to just buy the moulded reaer grip and cut the section in the middle out and reshape.
so i will get the forgrip with the hood it sounds like its the better option.
thankyou very much for all your input guys.

146. would this work??
i dunno if anyone has seen them but Fuji has these reel seats that are incorporated into the grips. like the reel foot slides down into a notch in the back grip then you turn the foregrip down to tighten it.
they are found here (down the bottom of the page)
i just was wondering if they are any good like do they save weight are they shorter or longer than a standard set up. i want to use o
