oh awesome ben a fellow brisbanian do you know the model of the blank? i like GUSA and have built them before and am currently building up a Pioneer UR70UL for my second breaming/bassing rod. very nice blanks so to stick with them would be great. single foots, hmm still tossing up the idea. id like to get away with light as possible as ill be casting all day so lighter the better.

Could anyone recomend some good guides to use on this rod? just brands/frames/models is fine, something that wont cost an arm and a leg like Fuji Sic but will still handle 15 and 25lb braid running through it when its connected to a fiesty tuna :) and they have to last the distance. what sort of price are american Tackle Titans, and would the Spin/Cast uides be high enough for what i need?

Thanks for the replies fellas much appreciated. at the moment im thinking something around 8-17lb would be good but even something say 6-14lb as a friend has recomended over here in aus. what it needs to be able to do is throw weights from say 1/8th (plus a 5 or 7inch plastic) up to maybe 1 ounce the G Loomis recomended above is a good choice for what i think i will need but still not su

also on a rod like this im guessing single foot guides are out of the question or is it possible and more so is it practical? would it be feasable to use single foots as running guides and a high framed double foot as stripper an transition guides? or could i go as far as using all single foots? as i will be standing and casting for long periods of time weight is a concern

just tweaked it a little i changed the 7 TLSG to an 8 dad would have used a 6 but theres none left :P haha 8 will do just fine and i think itll act as somewhat of a nice smooth transition to the 6's Using a SOL 2000 with 4lb platypus superbraid and 8lb linesystems leader. used this setup as a sort of half ground. ie pretty thick leader and reasonable mainline Finally got out on the golf

wow quick response! i just set it up for test casting it casted a approx 4gram lure about 25-30m leader knots passed through exellently with no clanging against guides. I then placed it in a rod holder and pulled down on the line at varying strengths, all transitions are nice and smooth with no great angles. It looks like i got it right which is nice.

hey guys this question is actually from my dad but hes not a member. after recieving my back issue on the NGC setup, me and dad went to work setting up his new rod. Its a 7 foot rod mathced to a daiwa SOL 2000. Reel spool diam. is 43mm so x27 puts the choker at 1161mm from reel spool face. that left about 760mm to the tip following the instructions in rodmaker we set his running guides to 1

with the EVA, could i do something liek this? get the KDPS nut, and sharpen the edge of the 'tube' i spose youd call it (the piece you mount yoru grip on) and use that to cut a nice circular slit into the EVA then remove the excess foam somehow and glue into place.

in my post i did not say where i should cut it back to i said how many of the threads should i leave. so for example if my reel needs 5 of the threads to fit in then should i cut it down to say 8 threads to have 3 past the point that i need to unwind it for my reel to fit in.

also, with the IPS seats, should i trim exess thread from where i need to unwind the KDPS to fit my reel foot? if so how many threads should i have past the point that i can fit my reel?

id say if you could sill move the longer rod as fast through the air then yes it would cast further but then it becomes the case of how long is to long
