34. question
how much would 3 medium coats of epoxy on a 12mm diameter blank weigh? doing a tiger wrap in the split part of my rod im building and cant decide wether to install the VSS seat uplocking or downlocking. uplocking (KDPS nut is below main vss grip) balances better but is less comfortable to grip than downlocking which u prefer at this point just for comfort reasons. however, if i go with downlockin

yeah after i set it out i was like oh i only have 6+1
thats why i am considering adding another running guide.
i was able to get it down to the choker only using 2 guides so i think thats where i saved a guide from.
but i think i could get away with using 6+1 if you guys asure me that under load the line does not have too much of an angle

Hey Guys
Just set out my 2nd rod using the NGC system and would like your opinions on wether i have done it well or not.
The rod is 7' long and the spool diameter is 41mm
The guide setups is as follows
20,12,8 TATSG 6,6,6 TLSG 7 Tip
I would have used a 6 for the choker, but no matter what i did i couldnt get it to work out just right. So i used the 8sized TATSG which i had spar

hmm thanks ted
ummm
most of the fish this blank will see will be mostly around 50cmish with the occasional biggun. 17lb seems a good breaking strain of line to spool up the C3000 with. itd be nice if they came with a spare spool. its just i cant decide what blank
i really like the idea of two matching GUSA blanks for my two most used and favourite rods. my breaming small squire and bass

50. Re: Blank Help
thanks for the posts fellas.
i was leaning towards goign 20lb because i already have a combo that runs 10lb. i have some 17lb here that i might use.
but i had thought of 20lb because you can get some rather large fish in the bay 10kg plus which you need to stop before they get you in the reef. there is also a good amount of longtail tuna in teh bay aswell which i think 20lb would help. as lon

the GLX is probably a bit to exxy for me at the moment
i think its out of the B70M GUSA or the popping Loomis
P902-GL3 7'6 MED-LIGHT FAST 6-15lb 1/4-1/2oz
or
B70M 7' Fast Medium 6-17lb 1/8-5/16

54. Blank Help
Hi,
looking at a few blanks for a build i plan on starting soon.
the blank needs to be able to cast 1/8th ounce jigheads a good distance and be in the realm of 6-15lb, will be casting 1/8 and 1/6th the most but sometimes up to say 3/8th or 1/2ounce
using it for snapper on plastics over here in australia matched to a shimano biomaster 2008 C3000. running 20lb braid and leaders ranging fr

Would Batsons VS3 guides hold up and be strong enough?
its a 6-15lb blank that will have say 20lb braid run through it.
Forum: rodboard 15 years ago
Tom Slater
also, what size running guides should i use that will pass 50lb leader knots without to much hassle.
im thinking 10 as stated above
90% of teh time itll be 20lb leader but some pretty nice structure over here reefs etc so at stages might have to go to 50lb

hmm seems like my two options are as follows
HVSG stripper then YSG then LSG
or
AMTAK TiTANs
NIA single foots then NIF fly running guides
want to try and save as much weight as possible.
ofcourse using NGC set up
Forum: rodboard 15 years ago

ofcourse this is all depending if i can get guides to match with frame colors

hey well this goes with my 'offshore spinning rod" thread on page 2
pretty much im looking for some advice on guides to use, at the moment i am wanting somethign that will last a long time with 30lb braid screaming over the guides under pressure so probably Sics even though funding is tight.
the blank is probably goign to be a GUSA B78M
im looking at matching it to a shimano Stradi
Forum: rodboard 15 years ago
Tom Slater
is it the B70M?
7 foot 6-17lb GUSA
it sounds right.
might go the 7'8'' but for that extra casting distance when the tuna schools are that bit further away
