Maryann i do not have near the time in that most of the guys and girls on this forum do. But my guess is just what you said in your first post and you are just over thinking the problem, that probably is not even a problem. any way you could post a pic. of what you think is wrong? ricky

this was my first large blank with eva. the one thing that did happened was that when the rear grip was in place the teton for the reelseat did expaned some and had to be turner down a little. maybe should have reamed it a little more. this was a different game than the light and ultra lite rods i have been using eva grips on. (always something to learn) ricky

thanks roger, the reason i ask is the last rod i built had a .618 butt and split grip was .450 hard eva. i did ream it some and worked fine. you are right running the bit like you say would be dangerous especialy on a small fighting butt. thanks ricky

I am in no way a expert on dec wraps but on the ones i have done i have found that using a lite build finish on the first coat helps with the bubble problem.

this spring i tried something on a casting rod break (break was between first and second guide from reelseat) i sleaved inside then instead of sleaving outside i applied a coat of flexcoat epoxy (slow cure) then wrapped and finished. after fishing rod sevral times it is staying together and fishes well. ? has anyone else tried this or am i just lucky so far?
