I use the pacific bay minamas on the spg rods I build. With line and leader you are using size 4 runners will be as big as you will need. For the price of the guides I would get a set starting with a 16 down to an eight and 8 or 10 of the size 4s. That is more runners than you will need but like I said for what they cost does not hurt to have extra.

You are right Jim the phenix weighed in at 27.1 gr. witch is the same as a fuji acsm. Both were 12.5 mm. on my scales.

Lot of guys here that are better with a crnkbaitrod than me. But the one I use for that and small traps is a castaway xp3-963 trimmed 6 inches, whichmakes it 7ft 6in. not the 7 you were thinking.
Give Swampland a call

Have not done as many rods as most on this forum but if level means with a small level the taper of the blank can make this wrong. Needs to be level center line. This maybe wrong but it is the way I try to do it

The reason i use the poppin blanks is that most are used crappie fishing. The slower action helps in not pulling hooks from the soft mouthed fish

anglers roost has a fuji style guide set that has 4 size 6 in the set. the ones i got seem to be of good quality. I also think Billy V can get them from Japan. Ricky

I agree with billy either the grip or the arbor maybe a little of both were not concentric. It does not take much to make things not fit right. (I know i have been there more than once) ricky

Charles, did you dry fit the grip and reelseat to check if it was still good after you reamed it or just glue it on.
Forum: rodboard 12 years ago
ricky espenschied
just a guess. did you test fit before or after you reamed the grip and arbor or after. If after could be your grip and or arbor were reamed off center. ricky

okay, that was more of a ? than a comment. just seemed odd to put oil were it could get somewhere it should not be. i use a cpw hand wrapper so do not have a problem with sticky rollers yet

not so much uncomfortable but are very small feeling in your hand. that one is on a light panfish rod that i do not normally grip tight or fish for more than a couple hours at a time so it works well for that. on a med.or larger rod i like the aero reelseats. but i also just put a 16 aluminum triagle seet on a dropshot rod. Mr. Broettcher is right. best way is to get one put it on the blank see i
