this spring i tried something on a casting rod break (break was between first and second guide from reelseat) i sleaved inside then instead of sleaving outside i applied a coat of flexcoat epoxy (slow cure) then wrapped and finished. after fishing rod sevral times it is staying together and fishes well. ? has anyone else tried this or am i just lucky so far?

Near the butt end of the rod should hold up for quite awhile - near the tip a little more risky

Lucky so far, but you may continue to be lucky for a long time. You won't really know until you have really put the rod through some serious paces.

Also think about - when a blank is made they usually have a - Release Agent - so they come off the mandrill. Cleaning the ID of the blank is a very good thing

I have done the same thing a couple times. As Ken said, near the tip, it did not work. Needs an outer sleeve also there. JMO
