I like it Roger! Did you find somewhere to buy the thread tensioner alone?

I have played with both, and a variety of guides.
The one thing I can notice makes a difference is getting rid of large ceramic rings on spinning rods. I don't like to use size 25 or 30 ceramic ring guides. Taller frame with smaller rings and I can tell the difference. Or Minima's - still with smaller rings - great!
Just my .02.

Don't get me wrong - I like Minima's. Weight reduction is great, they are tough, and not even close to any issues when using braid. Here is the specific application I was using last season, best I can recall.
6'2" ultra lite or lite spinning rod, Size 20 or 25 Pfleuger spinning reel, 4# or 6# Mono, jigging crappie with usually 1/32 to 1/16 jig and straight plastics - Cubby type - no cur

Yes - it seems to be more of a curling problem. I can't link it to a brand of mono either. It just seems to be a lot less with a ceramic tip. Using 4# Fireline it's no problem at all.
I'd say it's a lot more curling than line twist.
Are you guys using mono and it just fishes good - no issues? If so I may give them another shot.

Spencer is thinking ahead, and right on. If it's a new build it looks like American Tackle has a 7'8" and 7'10" telescopic flippin' blank.

Do you know the manufacturer? Would help us know if we should check.
Thanks!

Thanks! Now I'd like to drop about $500 at Rockler - need to sell a few more rods now.

Anyone recommend a good dust collector for turning and reaming cork? Something a good step up from a shop vac.

Joe,
Using a size 30 Pfleuger. Tried the 20 Y frame and it's just a little off, tried the 20 M today and it just whistled! Used two transition guides though - 12 SV and 08 SV, then size 6 fly's. Guess I'll just stick with the two transition guides. It's not that much more weight.
The 20 Y was promising when measured, but the 20 M just really did the trick, and seems nice with both braid

Does anyone have a spinning guide layout that uses the butt guide, single transition guide, and then fly running guides, that they like for med-lite or medium spinning rods? I have dialed it in for smaller reels in the ultra-lite to lite powers, but not there on the next power up rods.
My lite set up looks like this: size 16 M style, size 10 SV style, size 6 fly's. The 16 ring is just a lit

226. Minima 3's
I use a lot of M4's, but am looking at the M3's for some builds - silver frame-gold ring. Anyone have any recent experience with the M3's on the water? Found a few older posts on them.

No reply needed! Looked back and found one of my own posts that answered my question! Totally forgot I had both of these blanks at one time together - proving I should not rely on my own memory.

Just wondering - what are your favorite M style spinning guide layouts for med-lite and medium spinning rods? With a size 30 Pfleuger or 2500 Shimano, mix of mono and braid for lines.

Anyone fishing the Quickline Popping blanks, 842 or 843, and how are you liking them? I have spent more time with the spin jigs, but looking at the popping blanks a little more.

Just got a new 2016 catalog - I think the Titanium tips are in there - I'll check when I get in to work today.

They have titanium Minima tips in the 2016 catalog. Really impressed with the ZV guides I have in the shop so far. Trying the ZV style in size 20-10-6 for a really light set up right now. The ZV 20 ring is higher than the SV 25.
From what I see the only guides that can come close in weight are Recoils - have you guys seen anything else this light?

Anyone using the Titanium Minima's? Worked on a spinning rod with the ZV style a little - they are one of the lightest guides I have ever used.
Has anyone fished them much, and has anyone used the titanium Minima tops as well?

Actions between the two are generally pretty close. Because of this I stick to T2 mostly these days.

I have built on a lot of T2 and Rainforest blanks - more spinning and casting, but some fly too. There seems to be a little bit of difference in feel, but not much, but I also feel there is an edge in durability in the T2 line.
These are some very over-looked and under rated blanks.
I'd suggest the T2 version.

That's what I saw Steve, with a single foot spinning guide. It bent pretty easy, and they don't last much for bending back, snapping off easier - where a stainless one can be bent back.

Just started playing with titanium guides. Bending some to check strength, they don't seem as strong or rigid as stainless, is this correct?

Hey Buzz - I had a call for one of these recently too. They were asking to have a noodle rod blank built in to one I think. A blank with a handle and no guides, and possibly a tip top?
Sorry not much help, but that's what I recall.

Personally I like the chrome Minima's on just about anything. Thanks for the input guys!

The chrome M4 Minima's are my go to guide - they just flat out work, are light and tough, and reasonable cost. I had someone mention they looked less expensive, and possibly out of place on a $200 plus rod, and they preferred the black M4 Minima's.
I know the chrome M4's are popular - any of you guys using them on $200 to $300 spinning rods - and get any feedback?
