After trying other guides, I just have a hard time finding guides that beat the Minima's for light weight. What have you guys found?

Do you guys find AFTCOTE has a stronger odor? I have not used it for a long time. It was really nice to work with if I remember, but had a stronger smell.

Check the Batson RX8 popping blanks or Pac Bay Quickline popping blanks in the heavier powers. Light, sensitive, and a little slower actions.

Anyone know how much of a rod needs to be made in the USA to label it such? Looking at the market, it looks like just the blank, as there isn't much for cork, reel seats, or guides made here.

Wondering what you guys like better on finesse spinning rods and why? I still really prefer full rear grips as they always seem to balance a little better.

They are very nice - the only thing is the 782 is more a medium than medium lite to me. Even the 781 has a lot of power, and feels more medium than med-lite to me. They are nice blanks though.

Looking for a new 6'6" Med-lite spinning blank for walleye and some crappie fishing. Use most 6# mono on this one. I like quite a few of the 7'0" popping blanks, but would be nice to find on that does not need to be cut down. Any recommendations?

159. Re: Epoxy
How's the working time with the Threadmaster Lite? Tried Flex Coat lite, and it seemed like once it started to thicken, it did so quickly.

Finish not curing is usually either off on measurement of one part, or not mixed enough. At this point I don't know that you can get it to cure, you'll probably need to re-coat with a mixture that measured precise and mixed very well, and will cure up.

Looking for some ultra-lite spinning blanks, under 6'0". Any ones you might recommend?

I prefer shorter, as the rod usually balances better.

I mix with an auto mixer, and generally have few to no bubbles in the finish - bubbles seem to come from air gaps in the threads, and finish displacing the air. Would be great to avoid this if I could.

What's your preferred heat type to use on epoxy once applied to wraps - mostly for bubble busting. I currently use a long stem Bic lighter, and use the side of the flame.

Have not used the K frames - are the guide feet prepped at all on them?

Anyone know what the weight is on each of these? I have the DPSM17 and it looks like just under an ounce, and wondering how much lighter the DPSM16 is? Thanks!

my rod shop is heated to 70-71 deg. - finish seems a little thick at that temp. Do you guys just use it at room temp? I know it pulls a lot nicer into the syringes, with less bubbles when warmer.

How many of you guys get a good finish in one coat? I always seem to see a few threads here or there still, especially on the foot of larger guides. Would be great to get it in one coat.

Working on fixing two finish issues. 1. Bubbles - as the finish penetrates the thread, it pushes bubbles out. It looks like the factory's thin their finish to get away from this, but is there any other way? I use Flexcoat High Build UV. Is there a thinner finish you'd recommend for first coats? I use a lot of size D thread, do you see less issues with size A or even B? 2. Decal area -

Yes - I'd agree no HM. It's the reason I like good IM blanks so much - they are pretty durable - and I'm not sold that there are many bites you'd feel with an HM blank that you'd miss with an IM blank. Braid has changed that game some, and with braid I like IM way more.

What thread have you guys had good luck with recently? Especially regarding no "fuzzies".

I have to say I have not much experience with fish like king salmon, most of the bass, walleye, pike and musky I fish don't run more that 10-20 yards at a time. You may like the 3000 reel a lot, but do check for enough line capacity. I like Spencer's reply!

Couple things - are you running mono or braid? The 20 M guide is a little small for a 4000 size reel to me (have used plenty of those guides). More ring too small than not enough height. And, the Minima's can be noisier than ceramics. Do you need the size 4000 reel? A 3000 has more the size of a 2500 with more line capacity, just asking as it's easier to swap a reel than strip and re-do gu

Batson Revelation 6'8" or 7'2" Medium casting not a bad choice.

How long of a drill are you using? May want to drill the shorter part with a shorter drill so it does not walk as much, and switch to longer drill as needed. Also a drill with a split point may walk less than conventional drill point.

On bass / walleye type spinning rods, have you guys used any set ups with a size 20 Y frame butt guide? Trying to stay away from too high of frames and still get good performance. Would be looking at Pfleuger size 30 spinning reels and braid or mono to 8#.
