Thanks Putter, Ted, and Rich. You guys hit all the points I was thinking about. Not only are two pc rods easier to ship and transport, but most of the work of a custom rod - decorative wraps and custom turned grips - is in the bottom half of the rod. For warranty/repair, it's a lot easier to rebuild a tip section than whole rod when someone snaps the tip off !!!

Just wondering what everyone sees as more popular for freshwater spinning rods in the 5-1/2 to 7 foot range. Most two pc. feel like one pc. these days, but it seems manufacturers offer more one pc. models.
Would like to hear any thoughts on this one.
Thanks,
Marc

1053. Pac Bay hook latch
Has anyone used the new Pac Bay hook latches? They look really user friendly, but it is hard to tell how durable they are in the catalog pic's. Also, does anyone know if someone has them in stock?
Thanks,
Marc

1055. Batson RX6 blanks
I have built on the RX7's (mostly spinning), and they are very lite and crisp. I was wondering if anyone has built on the RX6 spinning blanks and how they compare?
Thanks,
Marc

I agree! Bob at Custom Tackle does a great job, as do many of the other sponsors.

1058. Re: Pac Bay nylon thread
Hi Mike,
I seem to have no problem finding other Pac Bay products, but can't seem to find someone that stocks their thread. If anyone has seen it as a stock item, I would appreciate the info.
Thanks,
Marc

1060. Flex Coat cork lathe
I recently purchased a Flex Coat cork lathe. I am wondering what the best way to connect the rod to the drill is. I have tried a drill bit with tape bushing built up, jammed in to the blank I.D.. It is o.k., but I seem to get a little slippage.
Any info would be great.
Thanks,
Marc

When building on small diameter blanks (0.250" -0.280" at the butt) I seem to have a hard time making any decorative wraps beyond a chevron look good. I am fairly new to decorative wraps, and have built mostly for function. I am using size A thread and a Flex Coat hand wrapper.
Any tips on working with small blanks would be much appreciated. I also want to say thanks to the guys t

I usually turn my own grips from rings, but sometimes have customers that don't want to pay for that. When building spinning rods with 16 mm seats, most pre-formed foregrips (1" diameter) are way too big in front of the seat. Does anyone know where some smaller diameter fore grips can be had?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Marc

1065. pac bay T2 blanks
Looking for some "reasonably priced" ultralite to med action spinning blanks. Was wondering if anyone has used the Pac Bay T2 series? Also, any info on experience with the Pac Bay HiAlloy spinning guides would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marc
