Closest thing I have seen is a Pac Bay T2SP600 or T2SP601. They are too soft as-is to me, but I have trimmed 6" off the tip to make 4'6" UL spinning rods and they are really nice. The 600 stays softer and the 601 becomes a faster action. Would still be a little over the length requested unless the butt is trimmed as well, but this is the closest thing I can think of.
Hope this he

What tip top do you like to run with these as fly rods guides Tom?
Also, how heavy of line weights have you run with the size 6's? Looking to do a 10 wt.

Debating the benefits of each on some new fly rods. Do you guys have a preference - anything from 3 wt. to 10 wt. I feel like the single foots shoot line a little nicer, but have not fished snake guides in a long time.

Talked to a good local guide the other day, and he mentioned guys going to 1 piece fly rods. Anyone else hearing interest on this?

The other post on bass fly rods got me thinking. Can you guys name any shorter - 8'6" and under 6 wt. and 7 wt. fly blanks? 8'6" 6 wt. is findable, less so in 7 wt., and under 8'6" they both get harder to find.

I like the shorter rods too - I'd go 8'0" to 8'6". Balance nice, shoot shorter to mid range casts well. Bass is usually about accuracy, not distance - actually I see most fly fishing that way.

Anyone use the Batson RX7 7'6" one piece hot shot blanks? Just got my first one in and it's pretty nice. If so, how did you find durability?

Anyone run single foot ceramics on fly rods? Any reason you liked or didn't like them?

Is cured epoxy, if used to finish rod handles, still a possible irritant? Or is it pretty much inert / non-toxic after curing.
Couldn't find much info on this. It looks like the epoxy used on foam core handles is more 2:1 mix than the 1:1 mix I have in the shop. Does that make a difference?

197. Re: Fly rod question
I really like the 6 wt. too - and there are more bass taper lines available in 6 wt. generally, which add a little punch for casting bigger flies.

I still like downlocking fly seats on rods 6 wt. and under. Any idea why uplocking have taken off so much? With downlocking there is less line getting looped over the butt end of the rod, and they balance nice.

Is it just me, or do the A7's seem like too much seat for a 2-6 wt. rod?

I agree Spencer - the LSJ781 is possibly my all time favorite. Did you fish any of the 7'0" LSJ's? I think the LP's were a little faster, but were the LSJ's lighter weight?

Any recommendation for some nice fly seats for 2-6 wt. rods, that don't require hidden hood design?

For short fly rods - under 8 foot - do you guys prefer 2 pc. or 4 pc.?

Batson has the best selection on these I have seen. Pretty sure they will have one to fit your style. It's a matter of length and how much power you want.
