While I cant speak for their reasons i will speculate. The Graphite material of the reel seat uses a different paint process than metal as far as adhesion goes. You simply cannot paint it all at once. Personal opinion is it will will look terrible if the seat was all one color not like the rod jewelry it looks like with the contrast. I would relate that too a painter that paints over your ligh

I have used Duplicolor paints from the auto stores. They are flexible and cover well in several light coats. I have one i then coated there entire rod in the rod dancer one part finish (similar to permagloss but not as hot). been about 6 years and it still looks great and it taken quite a beating

Just wrap it in the grip area and see what it looks like. Then put the grip right over it , no need to remove it. You will find plenty of test wraps under my grips. The weight in that area will not be noticeable .

If you use high pressure air do it outside of the finish room or take the rod to a clean room while you wait of the dust to settle that was certainly stirred when you used the air. Better off with the brush and blue tape. Tack cloth will possibly transfer the chemical in it to the wrap nd cause fisheyes. I never get to anal about dust . It really is a moot point

Been laying low for a while on the rod building but getting ready to start up again. Any of the NERBS going to the ICRBE? I don't see a table or booth listed for them but thought I'd ask.

Gonna be pretty hard to get a thin piece cut with out it getting sucked into the machine by the blade. Wood is rigid but foam is not and will travel into the void next to the blade . Any attempts t hold it to prevent that will most likely put personal safety at risk. Plus you will waste as much as you cut due to the kerf. Get craft foam as suggested above. Works fine .

One thing I would NOT do is wash with water. Blush is moisture. Scuffing is all that is needed. Dust it off with a brush , no DNA or other solvents. They will contaminate it. Any dust left after brushing will not be noticeable after a fresh coat is applied.

By the time you get the paint, the pearl coat then the clear coat and ruin three or four seats in the practice stage the matagi seat is a good deal. Then you need to hope it holds up to the abuse. Im sure a primer will be needed also to make every thing stick. I had access to a full automotive paint mixing system of years and experimented with some seats that were $10 a dozen, result? Get the M

Pop one out and go to the local auto parts store and have them match it up. All bearings have a number on them to cross reference.

If I understand the question correctly I think you worded it wrong. The thread always goes over the top. The difference is the direction of rotation of the blank, the pac bay and similar the carriage feeds from in front of the blank while a renzetti feeds from behind. But still over the top

As Bill said the Duplicolor line is durable and flexible. Plus the array of colors is endless. As with any paint the prep before hand is very important.

The spacing can be changed by changing the number after the % sign in the script. There is an explanation in the help menu accessed at the top of the window . In the script builder there is A spacing option under where it says layout threads. Also to get familiar you can click the ? in the script builder window and it will give directions on how to modify things and highlight the part of the

I'm wondering how much magnification you are using ? As stated make a few more wraps and inspect before applying finish. Is the condition visible to the naked eye ? I go over decorative wraps looking for gaps with 2.0 reading glasses and I find some I would most likely never see otherwise. Just wondering if the magnification is discovering a problem that is really irrelevant.

As Tom stated Email David the developer and he will help you out. I had an issue that he resolved by taking charge of my computer while I was sleeping. Woke up and all was well. Or he will send you instructions. Your choice. He is in Australia so the reply will be delayed as they are about 12 hrs different than here. Unless you are not here ......
