Recovery for me was not fun. I was injured in a workplace accident in late 2013 and had surgery in December of the same year to repair the torn rotator cuff and severed bicepts tendon. Six months of therapy and no work. I did manage to build three rods that were promised before the accident. But it took forever. I never fully recovered. My care was dictated by the insurance company and I

Let me get this straight Roger. Guys spends hard earned money on a custom deep drop rod and you will tell him to use electrical tape to attach the reel ?

One thing you need to do is tape the guides I added put a deep bend in it. Make sure the line has clearance to the fore grip , Not fun when 50 lb braid is stretched tight and cutting into you fingers.

Please do not think I assumed your finish yellowed bad. Sorry if it sounded that way ,Should have worded it differently. I was Appreciative of the info and how the uv inhibitors and other additives affected hardening and durability.

I have used to with great results the chrome tape you get at an auto accessory store it’s intended use is for making a fake moulding on the side of a car. One roll will last a lifetime.

Just look for the guy running around like a mad man wearing a different hat each time you see him. He does a great job during the show personally attending to every issue that pops up.

Also consider the finish is yellowed and will effect the color.

I use a band saw with a sled I built to hold the EVA at angles that are repeatable.

Exactly Roger. The late Jessy Buky gets the credit for the cleverness.

As I have done plenty times and credit goes to the late Jessy Buky for this one. Cut the seat and rod at the middle of the seat . Prepare a splice piece to fit inside the blank after properly preparing it for glue up. Glue a foam arbor full length into the seat and let it set up. Ream the arbor to fit as you normally would . Now glue the seat and inner splice up and align (I have been cutti

Condolences to his family and friends . A great teacher in the are of applying finish. Because of Ralph I apply finish with a spatula instead of a brush. Learned it from him at the ICRBE years ago. Great man the will be surly missed . Rest in Peace.

Depends on what you build for. I for one would do all i can t make certain that the seat will stay attached when fighting a 50lb striper or a 100 lb tuna. But thats the way i think. When you build for bigger fish the loads are certainly different. We had a walk on take an open spot a a charter a few years back and he had a seat break loose on a factory rod. Pretty sure they did not prep the

116. Re: dust
Or if you done have the resources to run a filter for a week or get the ducts cleaned etc, Take a spray bottle on fine mist and mist the air before working . Takes the dust down the floor and keeps it there. Cover the wrap with foil if not applying finish right away.

If it is not possible to have a separate sterile room a few things can be done to help alleviate the issue you are having. As stated already get away from solvents. Mineral spirits especially. If you feel you need a solvent DNA is all you really need to clean up things. If the room has a dusty atmosphere that is hard to manage take a spray bottle with water and spray the air up high. The mi

Another plus of transferring to smaller spools is you will find the splice points if there is any. How many times have www been surprised by these?

Rick if you can unhide your email. I second the statement above about Dale Clemmons book. In it day it was the best out there but sort of hard to comprehend. I bet i read it 15 times. Decretive wraps is written in easy to understand terms and there are spacing charts to go along with it. Questions will also be answered by the author.
