One thing to remember with waterside is the inkjet ink will resolve unless it is sealed in with a clear coat spray and allowed to dry. It will not be a print and apply immediately deal.

I have a cup hook installed into the side of my bench with a rubber band on it and a large snap swivel. I bend the hook so its hard for the band to come off and point the opening down also. I snap the swivel ( I've had paper clips straighten out on me) onto the tip top and apply as much tension as I can while using a cigarette lighter to heat the tip as I rotate the rod. If its gonna come off its

Sounds like overkill to me. Unless you got silicon flying around your work area. If thats the case I'd be more worried about my health.

I have a rod I'm doing this on I started 4 years ago. Put it off to cure and built about 50 since. I guess it is set up enough. 'l'll have to look for it. No worries about an arbor in front of the reel seat for the fore grip. The thickness of the wrap and finish will be about equal to the taper or thinner and the grip will fit snug into position.

Both are good choices and do the intended job well. My preference is the rod bond as it sticks where you put it. The Flex-Coat will run and will add more clean up time. I also feel the Rod Bond has a better lubricating ability to slide a tight grip down.

I have done several that way. Easier with EVA than cork. If the grip is reamed out you need to make sure there is no grit in it. Also the finish needs to be set up good. I wait a week at least due to the clean up with alcohol after sliding the grip on. Its a nice look especially if you incorporate the first guide wrap into tip end tie off.

I really don't see where where you see that tone here. I have seen plenty of rods built by some of the best in the business. Most of the bass rods are plain Jane withe the focus on performance. Same with off shore stuff. Sure there are some artists out there but most of the ones selling rods in high quantities don't do the art.

One thing a TRUE custom builder does is taylor the rod to the client. I had the experience of getting two blanks from Billy over the winter. My client and I went to get them at his shop just to have something to do that winter day. Our intention was to just get the blanks and @#$%& for a bit. We ended up tweaking the blanks by trimming them to handle what we planned to use on them as jigs. Spent

If you are going to use a formula the manufacturers use you might as well just buy a production rod. Custom is way more than just the colors. On reason I started building was I did not like the handle geometry on production rods.

You don't need a blank, wooden dowels work fine and are cheaper. Not sure what you mean by fray and unwind or remain satin looking. Any finish will gloss it up although the PG is a little egg shell-ish compared to epoxy. There are additives for auto paint to dull the look but not sure that will work in rod finish.

Threads will dig into factory finish also. Flexible finish cannot be rock hard. Possible your tension was too high. To me it won't be a concern.

If you are tuning the rod on a drier try this . Apply the finish to the area and make sure there are no dry spots. Leave the rod set until you see sags on the finish at the button. Take something with a straight edge (old credit card or the fake ones they send in the mail as a promo) and remove the excess finish. Rotate the rod 180 degrees. Fill in any dry spots you see with a dab of finish. Le

I can see why you want to save the seat. The Alps come with a steep price tag. The Hot water may do the trick early in the life of the set up epoxy. In the future dry fit everything and shim so there is no slop. The epoxy is intended to be an adhesive not a filler (although it works good as one) . I have used Rustoleum Epoxy pair with great success but you need to let is set up for two weeks or

The Maderia is made to exit the spool from the top not by the spool turning. Best practice is to transfer to a spool using a scrap of blank and a wooden spool pressed on it checked in the power wrapper .

Unless there is a huge suction pulling up from your roof I see no reason the syringe will fall out of the cap let alone the liquid come out of the bottle .. I believe it is Neutons law or something similar. I seem to remember an apple falling from a tree. .Imagine coming home and you epoxy finish is dripping from the ceiling. I wouldn't know how to act!!

Roger, I see no reason t make such a big deal out of storing and using finish and syringes. Get the ones specifically offered for rod building. Very inexpensive, buy a few when you want to get on the higher end for the shipping charge, Drill a hole in the cap of the bottle and stick the syringe in the bottle. ITS SEALED unless you pull out the plunger and store it separate. Flip the bottle over

Or maybe talk to the supplier you are dealing with and they may adjust the shipping on a small ticket item. Trust me I`ve done it. The rates in the shopping cart set too a formula. A $200 order can be a 7 foot blank (expensive to ship) or a gold plated reel seat (less to ship). Speak to the supplier and I bet most will make an adjustment but it needs to be overridden by a person.

You will not be able to stop the ring from moving when cutting especially after the first and second cuts if the fit is not snug. Snug not tight.

If it fits sloppy a little wrap of masking tape can take up the play.
