Sid I personally like the yorker caps on the bottles of Flex Coat. You can buy them separately or they come on the 4 oz. kit. Then you can squirt it out into our graduated mixing cups and never have to touch a syringe again. Our mixing cups are CHEAP, so don't think I am trying you up sale you. Its just so easy and, for me, the only way to go. ALWAYS MIX THOROUGHLY!!! Can't say that enou

Wow, that is a long time. You might want to go buy a lottery ticket or book a trip to Vegas. Seriously though, CP is cheap and will treat a lot of rods. I would not risk it. Do the test I described above and that should tell you if it is good, but if it is that old I would not risk it.

Roger beat me to it. As far as leaching, no. A thoroughly mixed coat on top of a tacky coat will not have any leaching. However, Roger's point is true.

I don't know if you are using our CP or not, but... Color Preserver is not like our rod finish which will always set up. Color Preserver can freeze and just go bad over time. This can allow the finish to soak into the thread in a blotchy pattern. How long have you had it? Its possible to have old Color Preserver that is good, but I would not recommend keeping Color Preserver for more than

Sorry you are having trouble. This sounds like your finish is under mixed. A tacky finish is indicative of improper or insufficient mixing. Basically, mix it longer and more thoroughly. Scrape the walls of the cup and bottom but avoid introducing bubbles. The finish will appear marbled, then cloudy, then marbled again, and then clear, mix it until it is crystal clear. There is a big dif

Rex Here is a link to our video that we recently posted. It is high definition, short and to the point. We call this technique the locking wrap, I don't know how it compares to the forhan wrap. Anyway, click the link below.

This is our latest Video on tying locking wraps on single foot micro guides. You know, there is nothing like the feel of a quality rod blank. Now, with the smaller, lightweight micro guides, you can have a rod that feels just as good as a blank. Roger Seiders is back to demonstrate a technique to secure these small single foot micro guides. This simple tweak on a standard wrap helps to grab

Ron I agree, that is unacceptable. Flex Coat that turns yellow in three months is not what we have based our 37 year business on. That sounds like the finish was under mixed. When the finish is under mixed premature yellowing can occur. There is a big difference in finish mixed 99.99% and finish mixed 100%. Have you seen our video on measuring and mixing our finish? How old is your color preserver? It can go bad over time especially if it is allowed to freeze.

Great question Marc You can also find this on our website in our Learning Center under using Flex Coat finish. Click the link below and scroll to the bottom. Its basically a 1 to 15 ratio. It doesn't take much and it will extend the curing time.

Mark We here at Flex Coat will let the rod rotate for 2.5 hours to set, then put it on our truck or van with the windows rolled up. Since we live in Texas, that will heat it up fast and get it cured. We always say 24 hours of cure time is enough if you properly mixed your finish. The finish may be a little tender tomorrow but we would never let it keep us from fishing.

Great question, Chad. Flex Coat Lite and High Build cure at the same rate. We recommend rotating for 2 hours and give it 24 hours before fishing.

From you description I am a little confused, but I am assuming that the finish either ran up the guide foot or you mistakingly put finish on the upper part of the guide. Has it cured? If not wipe it of with a paper towel and some solvent. If it has cured, carefully carve and shave it off with a sharp utility knife. Be careful not to damage your guide, rod blank, or finished wrap.
