Just find some soft (often white in color) hot melt glue sticks. This should get the job done and be close to what you are used to working with.

John you took the words out of my mouth. Steve, that is a link to our video that we put out a number of years ago. It is important to note that our tip top hot melt adhesive is used on all types of rods including large offshore rods. Our tip top adhesive is strong, easy to use, and if you ever need to adjust the tip top or replace it again, its as easy as applying a little heat. Best

Thanks for the email and sorry you are having trouble. This sounds like your finish is under mixed. A tacky finish is indicative of improper or insufficient mixing. Basically, mix it longer and more thoroughly. Scrape the walls of the cup and bottom but avoid introducing bubbles. The finish will appear marbled, then cloudy, then marbled again, and then clear, mix it until it is crystal cle

...also, if your room is cold and you have a thick coat, it could take up to 4 hours. The test with the left over finish could be flawed in that if it is left in a mixing cup it often hardens faster than on the rod. If you pour it out on aluminum foil like we recommend then it should cure close to the same rate as on your rod. sorry for the confusion

If mixed properly, any of our finish should only need to be rotated for about 2 hours, unless you have thinned the finish with acetone. Then it will be longer. Phil's suggestion is the fail safe check. Best

The #1 culprit of silicone contamination is medical syringes with rubber plungers. Our syringes are silicone free

This sounds like silicone contamination, otherwise known as the plague to rod building. The winding check has silicone on it and epoxy finish will not stick to silicone. It is also called a fish eye. To avoid this in the future clean your hands and components really well before you get started. We like the 3M orange cleaner.

Kerry The part A resin can crystalize like honey. If you melt the crystals the finish will be good as new. You can put the bottle in a hot water bath, under a heat lamp, or (as Roger said) use the microwave in short bursts, though we use a microwave that we don't use for food anymore. Be sure that all the crystals are melted before mixing with part B. Also, it is a good idea to warm both
