greetings,
soon i'll be wrapping micro guides on a bass rod and fear the thick flex coat i use to cover the wraps... in the past i've used klass koat to good effect but found that if i had to replace a guide it was very difficult to remove. klass coat could be thinned. is there any way to thin flex coat so i can apply it in several coats? thanks for any help. mforrest Re: thinning flex coat

Use several coats of Perma Gloss or Lumiseal. They can both be applied thinly. Re: thinning flex coat

sorry for not finding the answer myself...
here is tip no. 12 from flex coat Tip #12: For the rod builder who likes an extra thin coating on rod wraps, there are three ways to get a thin finish. Use a stiff brush which will spread the Flex Coat evenly and thinly over the wrap. Heating will also thin the finish. Thinning with a solvent such as acetone or epoxy thinner also works. Between 1 and 4 drops of solvent per 6cc mix of epoxy is recommended. Re: thinning flex coat

Great question Marc
You can also find this on our website in our Learning Center under using Flex Coat finish. Click the link below and scroll to the bottom. [www.flexcoat.com] Its basically a 1 to 15 ratio. It doesn't take much and it will extend the curing time. Flex Coat Company Professional Rod Building Supplies www.flexcoat.com Re: thinning flex coat

I have had the same issues with the cold weather here in Australia at the moment. I have been heating it regularly during application and getting nice thin coats. Also assists in getting it to set a bit quicker so I can redo at sooner as well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
