From you description I am a little confused, but I am assuming that the finish either ran up the guide foot or you mistakingly put finish on the upper part of the guide.
Has it cured? If not wipe it of with a paper towel and some solvent. If it has cured, carefully carve and shave it off with a sharp utility knife. Be careful not to damage your guide, rod blank, or finished wrap. Flex Coat Company Professional Rod Building Supplies www.flexcoat.com Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

No it is cured and while it was turning over night it ran up to the upper part of the guides. It is more cosmetic then anything. I have been trying to cut out the gaps with a modelers razor. Lone Wolf Rods "Keep your powder dry and your lines wet" God Bless Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

You could try heating the area on the guide briefly with a cigarette lighter then peel off the the run area of the finish to a surface slice with your razor knife at the base of the guide leg. Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

The problem is not the high build but that you put too much finish on your guides and probably your rod wasn't level to start with Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

I know It was my mistake. I just have to use a razor to clean them up. I never had the issue before and when I saw it I knew it was my fault. I know its not the [product I love Flex Coat. Lone Wolf Rods "Keep your powder dry and your lines wet" God Bless Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

It sounds like the turning motor stopped for a period of time long enough for the runs to occur. did you possibly loose power during the night? Re: High Build Flex Coat on guides

I personally would leave it alone.
You likely put on too much finish and either stopped the rod with the guides down for a bit, or turned the rod too fast and the epoxy climbed up the guide. If you want it clean, cut off the guide, retie it, and recoat it. properly. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
