Yes, we still make a 7 rpm battery operated motor for finishing and curing rods. It takes 4 AA batteries which last a long time. Give us a call and we would be glad to help you. 512-858-7742

Darrel Our wrappers are great and are hand made right here in Driftwood, Tx in our shop. They are expandable. We have the DL713 and the DL747. The main difference is how the rod is supported. The DL713 has V uprights that slide on the long board and the DL747 has spring loaded roller supports that hang from a back board and stay out of the way as you work your way down the rod. They are e

We sometimes use our 5 Minute Epoxy Glue to quickly fix and repair broken guides. If done right, it even looks good and lasts.

After mixing pour it out on a paper plate covered with aluminum foil. This will eliminate the heat and help pop bubbles.

Joe There is a great rod building retailer in Dallas, they aren't supporters of this page so I can't mention them by name, but with a little web search you should find them. There is a great local chain of stores in the Houston area that really have one of the best rod building displays that I have seen. I can't mention the name here, but the store on the Gulf Freeway in particular is real

John Condensation is not normal. This could be do to warming it over the cooking range or the ambient temperature and humidity change that happened when you warmed it up. Allowing it to evaporate wouldn't hurt, just don't let any foreign objects, dust or bugs get into the bottle. You should always warm your finish up to about 90ºF prior to mixing. This helps mixing and getting bubbles out

We like to keep it simple and clean on our rods. They look great and catch fish. Simple thin thread tags of a complementing color or metallic thread are always great looking. To us, fishing rods are primarily about three things; Performance, Performance, Performance. Buy the best blanks, components, and cork you can get and you won't be disappointed. Your technique will get better over tim

The rods we build for people come with a fool proof warranty. When we hand the finished rod over we say, "The warranty is 30 seconds or 30 feet, whichever comes first." We have never had any issues.

Nothing gets you over the last one like the next one. It was your first rod, hold it proudly high, warts and all. Just my opinion.

It seems to me that you have undermixed the finish. If you can scratch the finish with your thumb nail, then you should take it off and start again. If not, you can re-coat with a well mixed finish and it will last 20 years as opposed to 100 years.

Great question! Ours is precision milled in the USA with the quality you expect from Flex Coat products and spinns true. Sage, Loomis, St. Croix and most other Rod Manufacturers use our "original" slip clutch.

We don't recommend keeping Flex Coat in a "warmer" year round or all the time. Store the Flex Coat in a temperature controlled environment (no warmer than 78° if possible) and warm it prior to mixing. We like to warm it to about 90°F or warm to the touch prior to mixing. Warming the finish prior to mixing makes it easy to measure, shortens mixing time, and inhibits the formation of bub
