Giving them a call is usually the best bet or drop them an e-mail.
Good folks with great service.

I just built my 5 year old niece an MHX S781 (6'-6" 2-6#) that she uses to catch bait when she goes fishing with me. She likes it but she's 5. I've used it a little and actually like it pretty well.

Bob beat me to it.

It happens but it's not a Mudhole issue, it's Fed Ex.

I just start the wrap, place the tip of the foot underneath the wrap & continue wrapping.
I've got a set of them that I'll be using in the next few days.

Thanks Brandon. I'll see if I can get my hands on some pearl white to match my Chronarch.

Got the bright idea to try my hand painting a reel seat for a new build but I've hit a question on what type of paint to use. Does anyone have any input?

I did something similar with codine. Don't ever wrap guides while taking the stuff, I had a spiral wrapped spinning rod and the grips backwards.

How about the MHX CS722? It's listed as rated for 1/4-1/2ounce, fast action, medium power, from what you've told us, that seems like a dead ringer for you.

Billy,
It sounds great & I can't wait to see the results.

I'm fishing 2 of the MHX DS8515 blanks and have liked them those far.
It loads very well, especially with light weights, but doesn't sacrifice any power in the butt. I haven't built or fished the RX8 so I can't really compare the 2.

I wasn't crazy about the guide's weight but that's probably just me.
The 2 guide trains weighed pretty close to the same but it felt a little cumbersome to me with the majority of the weight in one place. Others didn't notice it but it just felt off.
I got good performance out of it though.

That's always been my issue. Granted, they're just riding there until I get to the next spot but just about anywhere is better than using one of the guides to me.

Do you like those? I've never been a fan.

18. Re: More advice?
You certainly can't go wrong with the MHX blanks.
My suggestion, if you don't want to buy a kit, would be to call Mudhole and go over with them what you have in mind. They'll walk you through selecting components & explain it step by step.

I've built quite a few spinner bait rods on the MHX SB812 blank, both the white & High Mod series.
My customers have been pretty happy with them and have landed some pretty nice fish with them.

26. Re: ultra light
The Microwave guide is going to be too big and HEAVY to use on an ultra light.
Stick with either the M frames or similar high frame, small ring guides.
You can try the split grip but I don't think this is the rod to try it on. A 5' blank won't leave you much room to really do anything other than just a few rings. But if you try it, let us know how you like it.

You'd probably be better off asking the FWC than a rod building forum. They're answer will be right.
As far as I know, it's perfectly legal in Florida.

I'm with Bob, the MHX SJ843 would be a good one for this and it's available in 3 options: original series, High Mod series or all white.
