I'm with Duane, you're best bet of correcting the problem will be in cutting the offending wraps off and starting over.

I would finish the underwrap and then wrap the guide after it has cured hardened. At least that way, it cuts down on the aggravation of trying to wrap over the bottom thread.

Joe, the "X-Mart rod" reference is funny but location is everything. There happens to be a "marital aid" shop close by with that name. But that is a great idea, I'll have to try that as a demo tool, thanks for bringing it up.

Interesting idea, I'll have to try that on my next build. That is, if you don't mind. I generally start the wrap and then slide the foot under the wrap and then wiggle it out every few turns until I'm up the ramp and onto the foot.

I'd go with one of the MHX Fly blanks. I truly believe you'd be hard pressed to find another blank of equal quality for the price. I'd say, depending on how "packable" you want the rod, the F703-3 would serve you very well.

The MHX P842, while listed as a 2 power, might be just what you're looking for. The MHX P842 Hi Mod would work as well as the tip is slightly faster than the original series.

I'm a bigger fan of how a rod balances and feels in hand than what it weighs. A light but uncomfortable rod is tougher to fish than heavier but comfortable rod.

The MHX MB843 and 873 would be my recommendations for those lengths. But as has been suggested the MHX SB812 is a super blank for spinner baits. These are all available in the original & high mod blanks. I think you'd be happy with any of these suggestions.

I use them fairly regular for an inshore guide around here. He prefers the double locking nuts available on these seats & he's yet to have a problem with them loosening during a charter. Personally, for the type of rod I build him, I don't care for them but they're not exactly light tackle.

Paint or underwrap the white wrap area would be the route I would go.

You can use silk or if you can live with a little tint of white, straight nylon white. I just wrapped a white MHX casting rod with white nylon and it came out pretty nice.

I lay my guides out on top and then rotate them around until I get them on the bottom. Then tweak the transition guides to get the smoothest move I can. It's worked pretty good so far.

If you'll pull through on the opposite side of the blank from the guide foot, you're wrap will stay tighter and have less of a chance of pulling out or loosening when you burnish and pack the wrap.

Yes sir, I just had to straighten a rod of mine out. It was a tournament rod so as long as it cast an empty hook and brought back a fish, it served it's purpose. Sand it down, wipe it clean and then refinish it, you'll never know the difference.

You should be fine with that wrap but when it doubt run a test wrap or 2 and make sure.

If it was still wet, you could have probablyhave cleaned it up and been done with it. On the next build, however, use a couple of thin coats to finish these guides. A little dab will do ya.

MHX has several 9' 10weights in the series. It just depends on how packable you want the rods to be.

All of them will do that. Either paint/color the area you're wrapping with white or use an NCP thread.

Nothing special at all with the Fuji split seats. You'll have to arbor up each side of the seat, like tubular seats, and use the Fuji winding checks to make cover the ends. You'll have to either size them yourself or ask the supplier to size them when you order them. Those seats look pretty cool and will look great on the white MHX rod. Good luck with the build.

Something along the lines of the MHX S841 might be right up you're ally.

Depending on your application, the MHX L844 or CB845 would be good choices. The L844 is much faster than the CB845, so I'd let that be my guide. The Fuji BYAG followed but fly guides should be just fine on this rod but I'd give the Am Tack A Frames a look as well.

Mudhole has the Panther's colors in their Jersey Skinz, give them a call and ask them to match it up. It can't hurt.

Everyone there has always treated me well (probably better than I deserve), been very helpful, quick with an answer whether in person, on the phone or through e-mail.
