Thank you Matthew for the feedback, I didn't pay attention to the MB874 but it may be the answer with 7'3". Do you you think it's more powerfull or equivalent to the MB844 ? I ask because the tip of the 874 is a bit thiner. Pierre

Hi, does someone have numbers or opinion on this blank ? I'm on a budget to build two 7'6" light saltwater rods to throw up to 1 and 1/4oz I just received a L902 to build a light saltwater rod and I'm quite disapointed with this blank. Quite "noodly" and not as powerfull as what I thought. It looks like a glass cranking blank to me... So I'm looking for other options bu

Roger, I beleive there is no 3C63MXF, but a 3C62MXF that is a little bit more powerfull on the paper. I didn't notice there was a casting version, so thank you for pointing that. Anyway, the numbers I have show the spinning is faster, and less powerfull too. Here in France, St Croix rods are quite rare so I appreciate your feedback. Thanks, Pierre

Hi, I've been told that the 3S63MXF is a little bit more powerfull and is a bit faster than the 4S63MXF and the 5S63MXF... Does someone can confirm that or have some to compare ? Thanks, Pierre

Jeremy, Thank you but I've allready get a lot of information on these blanks through the forum. I know they would be a good choice. Billy, Good one ;) There are some options in SC3 or SC2 but not exactly the same models. And they come with a price in the range of the Lami, Phenix or Rainshadow, so I think it's worth comparing them. Kyle, Thank you for your input. USB-771H doesn't exist,

Hi there, I'm looking for a blank to throw big hard swimbaits up to 6oz, while 4oz will probably be the average. I want something less than 8', but a 8' cut down would be ok. After browsing all this forum and some others, I end up with the following choices : - Saint Croix 4C79HF or 4C80XHF : probably the best choice, but quite expensive. - Phenix Ultra Swimbait USB-790H or USB-711MH.

Hi folks, I'll have to repair a broken rod soon. I don't have seen it yet but my customer told me it's a very light rod, with a very soft action, and as it's broken around the 3rd guide from the tip, I think the inside diameter will be very, very small. What material could I use to make an internal repair ? Thanks, Pierre

Thanks Jim, what you said make me drooling :P The TXC84-1M is rated as 3/4-3 while the TXC92-1ML (the one you use if I understand correctly) is rated for 1/2-2 1/2. Do you consider these lure ratings are correct ? If you have some pictures or even better a video with this blank fighting a tarpon, please shoot me an email. Thank you, Pierre

That's what I looked for at first, because they are light and powerfull, but I was told they are too mutch stiff for that application. I can't say since I never had one in hands.

Hi guys, I'm starting to fish the big cats we have here in europe and it seems that I don't have the rod to handle them... thought my heavier rod will explode yesterday with a 40lbs fish... and there are really, really bigger ones. Many spinning rods are available but I'm a baitcasting guy. I need something 7' long that is able to cast 4oz weights or lures and can handle fish up to 100lbs,

Joe, that does make sense. But how to understand "stronger" ? Bending would be not as easy as on a SS guide ? Something like fiber glass vs graphite. Figer glass will not be as strong, but under stress (bending), graphite will break first. Anyway, I will try the Fuji on my next build to see if they are worth the money. Pierre

Thak you guys for all the answers and the tips to remove the wrap, it worked well with a lighter. Well, maybe I'm a sucker but both Fuji and Amtak say that Ti guides are lighter and stronger than guides with stainless steel frames. I know a guide just CAN'T be indestrucible but I never broke a "standard" guide in about 25 years fishing. That's why I think that guide shouldn't hav

Hi all, today I went fishing with my new custom rod I just finished this week. St Croix IV 7H blank cut to 6'9" with Amtak TITAN guides from Mudhole, straight EVA handle and C-Blue real seat from Matagi. The rod cast great and is really nice looking. That's my third rod and I'm really happy with it. On a quite strong cast, the line twisted around the 5th guide so it broke and my l

Hi there, I just found this post doing a search about those blanks. A friend want a 2pc, 7'6" or 8' blank for his father. Nothing high end, just a custom rod to fish sea bass in France with medium hard or soft baits. The choice is really limited with those specs but the Tiger Eye blank seem to match them with the 762 and 802 models. Anyone can advise me about those models in M and
