To reverse the direction of rotation of a sewing machine motor or any AC/DC motor, it is only necessary to open the motor case to access the wires going to the brushes. Then cut the wires as shown in the Start sketch. Then reconnect the wires to an externally located Double Pole Double Throw Switch as shown in the Finish sketch. The color of the wires are not important. They are shown Red and Bla

Charlie, If your Renzetti does in fact have a bridge rectifier in it, and you want to change the motor direction remotely, you do not have to move (relocate) the bridge rectifier. It is only necessary to rewire the bridge and motor as shown in this diagram as follows: 1). Disconnect the motor wires on the bridge terminals marked plus ( ) and minus (-) on this schematic, and then reconnect

The direction of rotation of all Household Sewing Machine Motors can be reversed. These motors are called AC/DC or Universal motors. They are the only kind of Rod Building motor that can be speed controlled with a foot pedal. There are two ways to reverse the direction of rotation, which are: 1). Switching the 2 wire leads to the Field Coil inside the motor housing. 2). Switching the 2

Roger The Flexcoat Slip Clutch has a rubber/neoprene diaphragm approximately 1/8 inch thick This diaphragm has a hole in it which, grips the rod by friction. Holding the rod and preventing it from rotating, causes the clutch to slip by over coming the friction. Click on this link to see the rubber diaphragm. Rena

I've done it also. After applying Super Glue, I immediately start sanding, using mesh (screen) sander, like that used for dry wall sanding. This sands the cork without clogging the mesh sander, as would regular sandpaper. This action fills the cork holes with cork dust mixed with superglue. When all of the holes are filled with cork dust & super glue, I quickly wipe all residue off of the han

Phillip, The following information will save you a lot of time, money & frustration. 1. The RPM of Synchronous motors is determined by the Line frequency and can not be changed with any external device, such as a foot pedal or dimmer switch. There are Synchronous motors, like those used in ceiling fans, the RPM of which, can be changed in specific fixed RPM increments. But these type o

Nuno, Based on the extremely high quality of the rods shown on your web site, It doesn't look like you have much to learn. The only marbleizing I have seen whichis of the same artistic style and excellence, as yours, is that of Scott Throop (a.k.a. Finadict), who also developed the renowned "Tiger Wrap" technique. It's too bad that your web site is not in English, because mos

Josh, In my opinion, The Catch Hook keeper is clunky and out of date. It also sticks out from the rod. You should consider a Neodymium bar magnet, for example: 1/2" x 1/8" x 1/16" thick (extremely small), which you can epoxy onto your rod, then wrap a few turns of thread at each end of the magnet. Click on the following link to see a typical Neodymium bar magnet, which sel

I absolutely agree with Jay for the following reasons: The breaking strength of Size D Rod Wrapping thread is 7.4 Lbs as stated at this link: --- > So if the guides has 25 turns on each foot of the guide, that's a total of 50 turns. 50 turns times 7.4 Lbs = 370 Lbs. To be conservative, cut that value in half = 185 Lbs which is the strength of the the thread holding the guide on to th

Sanford, Scott Throop, of Tiger Wrap fame, has built a Spinning Rod that will do what you want. Here is what he said about it. "Heres another roller spin rod I built for AA Roller Guide for the FH Show... Built on a GF700H (65lb spectra rod), Batson BVDLG choke guides (#50, 30, 20), Batson Easy-Tight seat, All American @#$%& 180deg. Acid Roller Guides(4 + tip), and paired with an Accu

Chuck, 1). You can not electrically reverse the standard AC motors by the diagram shown in the link -- > 2). However, If you have a motor whose label states that it is an AC/DC motor, (like all sewing machine motors and most rod wrapping motors), then you can reverse it by the scheme shown in the foregoing link, or by putting a figure 8 in the pulley belt. 3). The typical AC drying

Marty, If you decide to use aluminum tubing, make sure that it is tempered aluminum, such as 6061-T6. - Do not use tubing that is not tempered, such as you typically get at the local hardware store, because it is too soft and will bend. Been there AND DONE THAT!, and I now have an unwanted bent butt rod. Rena
