Hi herb. I probably need it in 2 weeks so I have time to get it setup. I was actually thinking about emailing you last week when I started setting up this trip but with the time frame I had I figured that was a longshot. I still need to get with you about a couple other blanks I just haven't had time to do much since we last talked

Been out of the industry for awhile so I don't know what's available anymore and need a recommendation. I have a trip to belize next month and I'm looking for a 3 piece 7' to 7'6" medium light to medium action inshore casting blank. I love my cts rods but I didn't see anything interesting on their website and I wouldn't be able to get it in time anyways. I'll be targeting permit, bonefish, a

been kind of out of the building thing for a couple years but i need a new truck rod so would like y'alls opinion. would like a 7' or 7'6" 2 piece blank fast action med. light up to 5/8 oz. lure. it will be a normal style casting rod and it will spend most of it's time in my work truck. i was thinking of a st croix or a batson but like i said i haven't been keeping up with what's out there.

the 1569 i cast was alot stiffer then a 552 but i was told today that they redesigned the 1569 recently. the old harrington's weren't much of a casting rod they are more of a paddle rod. i never did like how the old glass rods loaded and have shattered more then a few. reason i want a rod that can handle casting that much weight is because there are times when it's just not safe to paddle out bai

wow only 6" cut off on a 1569? didn't think so little would make such a big difference. i've cast a 1569 a couple times and felt the power but from the ratings i didn't think it could handle that much. i'm going to have to try it out. i saw that brick video awhile back but thought it was just a standard over the shoulder throw which even my el cheapo's could do once maybe twice. so how much

problem with the blanks you listed is none of them can handle a quarter of the weight i intend to throw. highest rated surf rod i've found so far is 16 ounces and i can honestly say the least amount of weight that will be thrown is 20 ounces(between lead and bait) and depending on current/ time of year it'll most likely see 24+ ounces. the biggest problem will be in handling the cast. i've snappe

usually we use 10 to 16 ounces of weight and up to 1 lb of bait. so the rod needs to be able to handle 2 lbs plus the stress a distance caster can put on a rod.

i'm looking to build a couple unlimited class 10'+ surf rods to put my 4 wides and 6 wides on for targeting large sharks. my problem is i haven't been able to find a blank capable of throwing the amount of weight and bait required for such a rod. i know artie herbert built a few in the past by cutting down a 2 piece blank and turning it into a 1 piece but i have no idea how this is done. any hel

bought this blank awhile back and am finally getting around to building it but i ran into a problem. when i bought the blank batson had guide size and spacing listed on their website but since it's being rebuilt that info is no longer available so i was wondering if anybody had the info handy. also what colors would look good on a matte finish blank with titanium hardware? don't want anything

marty pull the spool out and look on the left side of the spool. there should be 2 brake blocks on a piece of wire. make sure they're free enough to slide back and forth on the wire, they'll help slow the spool down. if you want you can change them out for the red blocks which i believe will slow down the reel even more. just make sure the flat side is out if you decide to change them out oh a
