I read that its ok to use armorall on ones fly rod, I have a feeling my fly line is
picking some up from the rod thus breaking down my fly line,
The line is getting heaver, obsorbing water. Yes, I do clean my fly line after every use.
Has anyone, had this happen to them or is this just my imagination?

I wouldn't recommend AmorAll for use on your fly rod or line. Use a clean, dry wax on your rod. A coat of lemon Pledge a few times a year works pretty well.

how's it work for undercoating as a rust preventive?

armorall WOWWWWWWWWWW silicone city its bad... you may as well just spray silicone dashboard dressing everywhere.
its a car valeting product that leaves a shine ( for those that cant or wont clean things properly) you can get these in silicone free but your gonna pay mega bucks for it. like tom says a coat of good old furniture polish much better (and you can get different smells ( dunno if it matters but you may find some fish like lemon some like lavendar)

I have used Armor All on my rods for years. You can use it on fly line if you don't mind having the color removed from the line. Do not use it on handles because it makes them to slick to hold. No problem with silicone unless you spray aroung your rod building equipment.

I maybe wrong but I feel that Armor All helps provide UV protection as I have never had guides fade on my rods that I've used Armor All on.

I use Lemon Pledge on my rods, and to clean rods in for repairs and to final clean my custom rods before delivery. I read about it right here several years ago. It (Lemon Pledge) works very well indeed.
