I have found that 80% of my customers have had me use the A/T Aero comfort grip. Even my own personal builds have been done with them, and are a lot easier to grip and use especially in extended periods of fishing. I actually give them the choice with a couple of mock up blanks with both reel seats and let them make the decision for themself.

Actually its only a 10 year old energy effecient home, double pane windows, etc. But during the summer when its still over 100 degrees at midnight and the low only goes to maybe 90, that poor old ac unit is working overtime, plus its almost 1900 square feet. We would get a programmable thermostat, but someone is at the house at all times so can't really turn it down when I leave for work.

I guess that in this aspect of being in arizona, I am fortunate, my wrapping room is climate controlled to 72 in the winter, and 78 in the summer. Thus I do not have too much of a variance in set up or drying times. But I do pay for it during the 118 degree summer temps to keep the house and wrapping room at 78 degrees, believe me.

Actually by now it should be dry to a light touch. I just had one in the dryer for 3 hours and now 3 hours after that( a total of 6), I just ran the backside of my finger across it and absolutly no tackyness. What temp is the room where you are applying it, and how long did you mix it before application?

I would use one of the Lemke Concepts LC2 reel seats with your choice of wood, or acrylic for the insert

I put mine in the dryer which is set up on a timer for 3 hours usually before going to bed. When I get up I test the leftover mixture and it is under most circumstances dry to a lite touch after approximately 6 to 8 hours later. The room is set at 72 degrees in the winter, and 78 in the summer. After 24 hours Iam quite confident to handle it under any conditions, even test cast it if needed or

I made a couple of for lack of better terms tapered adapters that slide into the butt of the rod that are about 12" long then I just slide the grip up the taper with plenty of glue as a lubricant. the largest od is just a bit larger than the butt diameter to allow for easier installation. The adapters are just tape wound up a cut up blank .wrap up then move up a little, and wrap up some mo

I'm not a big fan of them either, but you have to take into consideration that a lot of people are palming the reel and the trigger is around the 2nd or 3rd finger back, not just the first finger. I do discourage using them on my builds, but some people are confortable with them, and the customer ultimately has to make that decision.

I talked to Neal about 6mo ago, and he was actually working out of his home. It would be best to give him a call, but there are other suppliers on the left that also sell and stock the tiger eye blanks.

I use a PSI Turncrafter Pro VS, that I lucked out on craigslist and got for 100.00 was only used twice, but I've got 3 times that in tooling and accessories for it. It does an excellent job.

If I were shore fishing, I would probably go with a 9' 4 wt, as they seem to use small flys back there, From a boat, I would go with a 9' 5 wt. I would probably go with double foot guides for the first 2 then I build the majority with wire single foot guides, unless the customer expressly designates that he wants double foot snakes. Another consideration, is guide size. I use larger for loop

I have used everything from 1 1/2 RPM to 30 RPM. I seem to prefer around the 8-10 range, but the others worked just fine

Pre-formed are ok, but if you want to add any accents, or mix or a specific shape of your own, you won't be able too. Also keep in mind that if you want to do your own reel seat inserts, you will also be able to do so. The cost of the lathe is actually minimal, the real costs involved are the turning tools, mandrels, chucks, live centers etc. I actually turn my own cork grips on my old home made

You stand the chance of someone saying yes, they can do it, then ruining a completely good rod. I think like Bill said just get another rod that is equivilent to what you want and need.

I don't think you are gonna find any camo cork. Cork will not take any dyes and hold up. At least IMO it just does not exist.

I have actually sanded the hypalon down and it has done a pretty good job. Under no circumstances should you soak them in baby oil, as I am sure you would live to regret it. Others on here may have some other fixes also, but that is what I have done in the past. You can also cover them with the x-flock shrink tubing and they will come out pretty nice. It is available in several sizes in both

Just shim up the thread guide until it gets reasonably tight enough not to slip out of the dove tail. Any thin material glued to the edges should tighten it up enough.

I also received some samples from am tac a couple of weeks ago, but to date I have not had a chance to try any sample wraps. It appears to be great quality and very consistent. Nicely wrapped on the spool unlike Pac bay's criss/cross pattern which I absolutely despise, despite being pretty decent thread.I think thread is going to be kinda like cars, some people have their personal preferences.
