I believe that I am going to try and build one as a combo by using a Microwave guide and see just how functional it will be, at least its worth a try, and with a removeable fighting butt should be fairly functional, just have to make sure the fly reel seat will accept the spinning reel.

I have the predecessor to the Commander, the turncrafter pro vs, and it is a great lathe, and suits my needs quite well also. Have not found anything related to wood, cork, eva, etc that it will not do an excellent job on. I highly recommend it, also keep in mind that the lathe is just the start. I have more money invested in turning tool than I do in the lathe itself, with mandrels, chucks, tur

Actually, just tried it that way yesterday. Tried 3 different methods, boiling, pressure cooker, and vacuum. All results the same, Surface only, and this was with rit dye. Did not rub off with the boiling, and might last for a time with cork seal or some other sealer applied, but literally no penetration.

Just how many times do you fight a fish head on and straight in line, Usually the fish will go from side to side, and I am sure you do not take the time to reposition yourself to make sure you are straight in line with the fish when reeling. I pull from side to side, straight and all different configurations when fighting a fish. This in turn renders the twist of a rod very negligable in my opi

What distance are you thinking of casting, the 8 & 8'6" 4 wt are great for short to intermediate casts, but I would go with the 9' 4 or 5 wt for more distance. I am actually partial to lighter wt rods than most people also, so for me it would be the 9' in a 3 or 4 wt

Almost all of the lathes are built in the same factory overseas, just marketed with a different name. My PSI Turncrafter Pro, looks just like the Harbor freight ,excelsior, and some other brands Just make sure you get one with a longe enough distance between centers or get the extension. Mine is 14" between centers and does everything I need it to do. It does not take a whole lot of power t

The Fire red would be the closest to what you want. If you want it to stay looking like it is on the spool then use CP on it or it will turn darker. Otherwise get it in the Color fast version.
